Broken tonneau, cracked roofs, pooling water, keys not working....taking delivery now seems like a joke.

Ok
LOL. You think anonymous posts on the internet is a statistically significant sample? Guess you’ve never bought anything on Amazon where (gasp) every product has at least one bad review.

You might want to consider that there are thousands of people not posting anything and just enjoying their trucks. Go hang out on the Audi Internet forums and you’ll wonder how they’re still in business.

And, sure, telling us that we’re desperate idiots definitely doesn’t feel disrespectful. Well done.

Indeed I suggest you pass and let some other desperate idiot else take on this horrible burden.

Sincerely,
R1T owner with zero problems, having a blast…
Folks taking delivery of broken products look like fools.

The majority of trucks don't have massive issues.

But the real reason people get the truck is the long pedal.
I'm not sure I believe that...I want to. I just wonder if there are major issues from manufacturing that will just take time to pop up in all trucks. Like the cover.

It's an internet forum. Complaints will always outweigh praise. Happy customers are way less likely to come on here just to post how happy they are. Remember how much I used to come on here and gripe about things? Now I barely check in as I'm out having too much fun in an amazing vehicle that has almost no issues.

There's 10,000+ Rivians on the road, and maybe a couple dozen of people who have had extremely bad experiences posting here.

I'll take those odds all day long. Better yet, I'll just take my truck out for an adventure.

I don’t have my R1T yet. I drive a Tacoma - generally considered one of the most reliable, well built trucks on the road. If you go right now to the Tacoma forums you will find hundreds of threads from people complaining about various things they don’t like or things that broke. It’s all anecdotal. It doesn’t mean anything other than SOME people have opinions and SOME people had issues with their trucks.

It doesn’t really seem like you are ready for this whole early adopter thing - I encourage you to cancel your order, delete your forum account and go buy a vehicle that is perfect and has no issues.

Why would I cancel my order. I could take delivery and have $30,000 in equity tomorrow, right?

Wow, some thick skin around here. Sheesh

Again, you keep saying this as if it’s fact. Maybe you can link to some posts where someone took delivery of a truck knowing it had a broken roof? Or “pooling water”. Or even keys that don’t work? How would they drive away from the service center if their keys didn’t work?

I am done feeding this troll.

The cover in my truck works fine since delivery in March and I haven't done any maintenance on it. It might help that I have a tent over it most of the time, so it's not getting full direct sun when it's sitting outside. It did make some popping noises when I first got it, but those went away after a few weeks. Rivian has said they plan on replacing bad covers with an updated design whenever that's ready. It's a warranty-able defect anyway, they eventually have to come up with a solution to it if yours fails.

The cover on my Hummer EV required constant recalibration to get it to close properly. All things considered I've had fewer issues with the one on my Rivian.

Perhaps you're right. I was high as a kite on the Rivian brand and the vehicle for years. This forum has turned me into sour grapes. All negativity all the time. Some guy complaining about his disappointment in a dead key fob battery put me over the edge.

A million positive things about this truck, and people are complaining about a key fob battery. Unreal.

You should cancel it because you‘re extremely smart and not at all unbalanced.

Not a random troll...I have probably hundreds of messages here. I will take some time to find a few of these messages, but again you can throw a dark blind and find negativity and issues. I came here to get excited about my new truck and the opposite happened.

I mean you have been pushing this agenda on several threads, some might think you are trying to troll, not saying you are but some might think that. I can understand wanting to wait a year to get a better engineered version but you’ll lose a year with a cool truck with problems that can be fixed under a generous warranty.

I mean this is very similar to your other thread the other day: https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/would-you-buy-now-yes-or-wait-no-poll.8196/

You may be right. I'm going to talk to my guide about options and bail from the forums for a while. You guys are tired of me calling out all the topics I'm reading here. Folks want to defend Rivian...I can respect that.

I'm continuing to read an over abundance of messages about Rivians being delivered with broken tonneau, cracked roofs, keys not working, and a laundry list of other issues. Why on gods green earth would you accept that trash product?

I don't mean to be disrespectful, but we look like dummies to outsiders. No person, buying any brand, should accept garbage broken products on day one.

How desperate do you need to be to accept delivery on a truck with a broken power tonneau on day 1? That's ludicrous. Even then, most of you know things are going to break and factor that in your purchase. Beta testing at its finest...cool if you want in on that. "I'm using my tonneau cover as little as possible"...that sounds idiotic.

I'm reviewing with my guide today and may postpone this thing for another 12 month. I have no probelem just keeping my current car. Rivian needs to get their shi* together.
Really the only real glaring issue is the tonneau at the moment, for which they've stated is in redesign and the comprehensive warranty will deal with it.

Keep in mind too that we are a subset of overall owners, and when that subset posts "I have a problem" threads, they tend to see the most activity both out of curiosity and potential troubleshooting from the group.

We have also had stories of owners coming across other owners in the wild that have had zero issue in months of ownership, tonneau included.

On your point of postponing delivery, I'm curious how far they would let you bump out your order and retain your pricing. I would imagine that would have limitations.
