How essential are the plastic “lids” that cover the jack puck locations? Discount Tire put winter tires and wheels on my 2026 R1s recently and must not have properly replaced one of the covers. I put It back in place and it won’t stay put. Should I ignore the problem, take the vehicle back to discount tire or call Rivian for advice?

If you haven't already, try cleaning them off and I bet it will go back in. It's one of those parts that seems to come loose occasionally after some regular use.

If it won't stay on after cleaning I would probably use some gorilla tape to ensure it doesn't come off completely until you can have Rivian take a look at it.

Mostly for looks probably. Maybe in certain cases, they block debris from getting in there but it can also just get in from the sides/rear.

I do my own wheel/tire changes and maybe I also didn't put them back correctly but 3 of them are missing haha. Been driving around for at least 20K miles that way. I also live in SoCal where it never rains so the undercarriage/suspension components are always clean.

Not very essential. And some people even leave the entire plastic trim(s) off after having installed rock sliders. Won't stay put? Park it indoors, let thaw and clean it up. It's probably not snapping in place because of ice/slush build up.
