When I purchased my R1T in November I had a 24 hour test drive with a truck with both Off-Road and Performance packages. I thought seriously about adding the performance package to my purchase but given that I could add it later I decided to wait and see (I did get the Off-Road, primarily for the undercarriage protection but that is a different topic).

The primary reason I wanted the performance package was to unlock the "Lowest" suspension setting (9.0" instead of 9.7" if I remember correctly). I thought the extra 3/4" might make a difference in handling and is also a benefit for some garages. Now it sounds like I will get that lowest suspension height without shelling out the $5k. Plus I find myself using Standard suspension height most of the time for a more comfortable ride.

In my first three months I have not once wished I had more power. While @2kwik4u makes some great points, I don't compare this truck to high performance ICE SUVs. I seldom drive over 65 because that will drain the battery too fast. I don't want the extra power to burn through tires more quickly. Within the speed range I drive, this 7000# truck still accelerates almost as fast as my motorcycle. I'm glad I saved my money.

I have a question. I'm looking at a used 2025 R1T Dual Motor with Large Pack -- is it still possible to unlock the Performance Package on a used Rivian?
