No, we are talking about the spoiler air redirect ports. Refer to this picture, where I have them taped off:

Ohhh....I see Does anyone have a picture of what these look like naturally (without the tape)?
Just FYI I have a R1S, not R1T...the S doesn't have this, so I'd need to rent a T to do it. Renting a T is on my todo though as I want to make L track mounts (actually they are almost done but I need some final testing) and rubber based upper tail gate protector, but it will be a month from now at least.

If nobody has gotten you pictures of that when I'm done with this trip, I will take pictures for you with the tape off.

Closeouts for this area would benefit anybody with an RTT, or towing for that matter.

I have a printer as well if you need someone to test prototypes. Probably would want TPU gaskets around the edges where the fillers touch the body of the truck.

How much improvement are we talking?
It depends on what you're routing the air over lol. But generally speaking, if you're towing or have a load, you're probably looking at roughly 3%, as well as not "pressurizing" your load lol.

I do RTT like you, so curious if 3% is your RTT value.

Yes.

Without those ports blocked, it pressurizes the area between the tannau and the RTT. This actually causes the cover to inflate like a balloon lol, not the most efficient use of airflow.

What if tonneau is open when there's an RTT? ? I've previously tested tonneau open/close without RTT and closed was obviously better.

If tannau were open, it would pressurize the area in the bed and cause turbulence.

Running the air over the top, reduces that turbulence, and makes it more efficient.

I am eager to get a more elegant solution to the way I am tackling the problem right now.

Best solution for you would just be switching to a blue truck, right?

Did you put some cardboard or something stiff under the tape or did it hold up with just layered tape?
