@Discount Tire , does every discount tire location have the Rivian jack pucks, or is it something that each location has to request.
I would recommend that you have your own to travel everywhere with, just incase. They are less than $200 and it's a piece of mind knowing you have them. Just my two cents

I replaced all four tires at South SF service center a couple months ago, after two tires out with nails. Then two days ago, left-rear developed slow leak. Took it to the nearby America's Tire (name used in CA), and they patched the 22" Pirellii OEM tire for free, and they said all repairs are free! And it took them under 1/2 hour. Pleasant surprise, and a new loyal customer gained.

Separate tech question: I see the website saying that 20" Michelin Agilis will fit with Rivian. In theory, a 20" all-season could give better range than the OEM 21" default road tires (non-A/T). Though Rivian doesn't support 20" non-A/T (wouldn't be possible to calibrate, I assume), has anybody tried this? Any comment from Discount Tire?

Thank you for the opportunity to earn your business!

It is my understanding that you will need to visit a Rivian service center to recalibrate for different wheel diameter.

Off topic. There is a rumor that 21" wheels has another tire option from michelin defender ltx ms/2 coming soon. 275/55/21. I see a few online sites like pep boy has it but not able to order yet. Michelin customer service has no idea. Any thoughs?

We've been asking about it, but Michelin has been pretty tight lipped as to when it will be available. My hope is we get some news on it sooner rather than later. We will do our best to keep you updated on its release!

🙏 Hoping for the Defender LTX Platinums in a suitable 21” variety 🙏

C’mon Michelin, you know you want to….

Thank you for sharing this. Image A would be the source, however in this instance it does not list the OE tire load index. Typically when the load index of the OE tire is not noted on the placard, the owner's manual needs to be referenced. I did a quick search and didn't see mention of load index in the owners manual.

I sent this over to our technical & fitment teams for clarity. Thanks again for posting these images, we'll post up our findings.
Has the fitment team provided a decision on Discount Tire’s stance for load 115 tires on R1 vehicles?

Still in a holding pattern, however we should have more insight next week.

Rivian has the 116 Load tire be set to 48.0 psi (~95% max pressure).
If a 115 Load tire is used instead, it should be filled to about 49-50 psi (97.4% max pressure) to achieve the same/similar load rating.
If the tire max pressure is 50, then it should be set to 48.7 psi (or 49 psi).
If the tire max pressure is 51, then it should be set to 49.7 psi (or 50 psi).
Given that the tire already has a safety factor of 10%, a psi range of 45 to 50 psi should be reasonable.

The front GAWR, which is the maximum weight the axle can support, is 4,134 pounds. So, each front tire needs to support 2,067 pounds plus ideally a 20 percent working load buffer (another 414 pounds per tire, or 2,481 total), to safely run the maximum load (vehicle plus ~1600 lbs of people/things).

This would translate to a minimum load requirement of 113 (2,535 lbs). It appears that Rivian chose a load (116 - 2,756 lbs) approximately 10% higher than actually needed. Based on inflation pressure of 48 psi, it appears they would like the tire load to be 5% higher than actually needed. With a 115 load tire (2,679 lbs), inflation to 48 psi would achieve a load of roughly 2,571 lbs (which is 3.6% above the minimum needed).

There does not appear to be any reason why a 115 load tire couldn't be used.

It may be that Rivian believes the vehicle could get overloaded with cargo and people, exceeding the GAWR by 100 pounds per tire. This checks out and results in a total GAWR of ~9,000 lbs. This seems like the most likely reason they would lean towards the 116 load rating instead of the 115 load rating...

Question for Discount Tire. When I use Treadwell, it very conveniently shows info like Stopping Distance and, what is of particular interest to me, EV Efficiency. However, Treadwell will only show exact OEM match tires, eg the 275/65/R20 for the R1S.

I would like to know the EV Efficiency for the 275/60/R20 tires, but Treadwell is not available if I do a general Tire search.

IS there any way to do a general tire search and sort by EV Efficiency?

Love DT! I picked up my R1S last Friday and religiously went in and got the road hazard warranty on the OEM rubber. So many people don't realize they should do this with new vehicles. I learned the hard way back in 1998 with a brand new car at mile 000007 and a pot hole.

Congrats on the new ride! Thank you for your patronage! The Certificate Program is a great way to protect your tire investment, and give you piece of mind!

Treadwell is pretty much vehicle specific. It will not give accurate information if vehicle and driving characteristics are not entered. You will have to enter the vehicle information. You can edit the sizes that you are looking for and compare them that way.

@Discount Tire When shopping at tirerack.com, I am presented with an option for Discount Tire Mobile installation. Is that installation option also available when ordering through discounttire.com? I only see in-store options.
