Not that Rivian needs another thing to execute on, but just came across the US Army’s Climate Strategy and GM Defense’s Silverado EV-based Infantry Squad Vehicle. Took a look at it and just wondered if the R1T would’ve provided a more capable base.

I assume there’s plenty of alignment between an American startup / manufacturer with eco-consciousness at its core and the US Army’s plan to go green while still needing very capable off-road vehicles.

Unless I’m missing something the only electric ISV I see at that link is based on the ZR2, which is ironic because that is similar in size to the R1T and Chevy obviously doesn’t sell a ZR2 EV.

The Army and DoD are also testing vehicles from Canoo, which might be that company’s only chance to stay alive.

A stripped down four motor R1T could be a very capable military field vehicle. Here's where the Rivian tank turn could come into its own. A Launch Green R1T with a stealth wrap would look the part.

GSA already offers EVs for the majority of Army vehicle needs: passenger vans, little sedans, and an assortment of pickups.

LE options too:

No one wants these though, they aren't "tough" enough for their actual pavement needs. Paint it green, put a turret on top, and then they'll play ball.
