What a novel idea, you looked for the manual or the online support and did a search? And found the answer, facts.
You better watch out. Suggesting someone do a very simple search on their own instead of making an entirely new thread and expecting others to do the work will get you lambasted...

Ask me how I know...

The steering nags get old. It’s bad enough that we have 2018 ADAS. I’ve been experimenting to find the touch sensors and have an idea on fooling it. I had a weight for the Tesla that worked perfectly.

You got me. I searched high and low in my physical gen2 in the mirror area and they concealed it super well within the mirror, unlike the Tesla driver monitor camera. Any one with an actual photo of the camera’s location in the mirror? My r1 stuck in service for the last twelve days. No reviews I have seen mention it and with its removal midway through gen1, I figured it was not added back. Good info, and a duh moment for me. Good on you

I am interested to know if it can be disabled or blocked. I suspect not, but if it can, I will want to do it. The face nanny will be super annoying.

For that use case, yep. I want it on also.

But for me? Nah!

Yes, with privacy settings. But you lose functionality.

To redeem myself, I finally got my car back from service and can confirm the camera is behind the glass and is visible when shining a light into it — approx 3 inches from left edge and about an inch from the bottom edge. Very sneaky placement!

I can't identify it in your photo (is it the green dots?), but what if you put a piece of electrical tape over it? What happens when you use Driver+ then? Inquiring minds want to know.

Circled in red.
It isn’t called that anymore for Gen 2, instead called Rivian Autonomy Platform, the only differentiating feature right now is auto lane changes and nothing happens when I look away. Just the same steering wheel nag. Guessing the camera is not yet active a la Tesla interior camera not coming online for more than 3 years after they introduced the hardware in the Model 3. Given where RAP is now, I’d say they are where Tesla AP was in 2018 or even earlier, given it is very picky as to where it can engage and forces disengagements at the smallest things (going under bridges, getting cut off)

If you use the flashlight from the door, and point it at the mirror it makes it VERY easy to see the hardware.

By default it is turned off

Once they actually add functionality that relies on the camera I'm sure it will be turned on
