Not driveble with hood opened tow truck came and picked it up this morning...R1T loaner until it is repaired ..excited they had a loaner as Enterprise has been terrible last 2 rentals from them. 2nd was considering a R1T when lease is up and won't as I still need the 2 back seats and not a lot of room compared to the S.

Looks like I’m too late but my recommendation is to squeeze/press down hard on the pinch sensors on both sides near the hinges — fixes most issues like this.

PSA: If your Rivian is in the shop for a hood alignment issue, be sure to check the edges of the hood when you pick it up from service. Ours had scrapes along the edges on both sides, like they weren't careful when replacing the hood.

Picked up my R1S today and answer is the button in the front wasn't sealed properly and caused a short/ground. Hood was re-aligned and all is good...Madison Heights MI SC staff are awesome..

Mine did this. After about six months, it wouldn't close every time without bouncing it back up. It was maybe 30% close, 70% pop back up. Had to manually close it. Service realigned the front hood which fixed the issue. My guess it just got out of alignment from the the jarring of the pothole roads here in southern california.
Mine still does this, when I press the button to close the frunk, it almost closes, then springs open again. It closes when I close it manually, which is what I do, since that is how I've been closing my hood for 40+ years. :) I do want it to work, but it will have to wait until I have a service appointment for something that needs to cause me to drive an hour for service. I am in Temecula, CA, and appointments are now booking for late May - early June for non-emergency repairs.

Interesting, I will try this and report what happens.

24 R1S on 2025.06.01 keeps opening and closing the frunk, vehicle is 9 mos old.
Battery removed from fob, app closed proximity disabled and account password reset. My opinion hood is misaligned I have seen a few posts on this for delivery has anyone else had this issue? Yes did a vehicle and Infotainment reset and disabled power frunk in vehicle access and it still happened....

Service appointment is Weds this week...as I mentioned I think hood is out of alignment is the root cause
The problem may be the hood sensor. I had a similar problem. I was in the Cumberland (Virginia) state forest and I pulled off the dirt road to park. The ground wasn’t remotely level, but I didn’t think it would be a problem.

When I returned to my R1T & opened the frunk, everything was fine. When I closed it, the hood came down & immediately return to the open position. My app & the infotainment screen displayed the error message “object detected”.

I triple checked that no object was obstructing the hood.

I couldn’t drive home with an open hood, and I was in the middle of a forest & help wasn’t available. My only option was to hit the close button and then hold it shut by force. It worked.

Unfortunately, I bent the hood hinge. The Richmond (Virginia) service center fixed the hood hinge and replaced the sensor under warranty. It took awhile, but they did a good job.
