Front wheel squeal

I had a squeal last night. After reviewing this forum a bolt on metal made sense. I was able to take mine out the rest of the way with my fingers. Obviously, there is no thread lock on it.

Everybody with an R1 should be checking this at least every time you rotate tires. It would be good if Rivian would release what the correct torque spec should be.

It’s easy enough to check once you know what you are looking for.

Imagine the number of emergency tows, service center back logs and rental car reservations that could be saved. Not to mention, pissed off owners like me.

I actually bought a replacement 10.9 grade 12X1.25X50MM bolt. I didn’t want my truck inoperative while I am waiting for service.

Don’t forget a dab of loctite!

Same thing happened to me, front left. It’s currently in service at RSC, they sent a tow truck. I was very happy with RSC service

I opened a service ticket Thursday and the car is getting towed to the Franklin SC tomorrow…

I have a Gen1 2024 R1T dual motor with 17k miles.

it looks like I have a failed wheel bearing on the front left tire. That’s a pretty early failure in my opinion. I’m used to seeing wheel bearings start to fail after 5 years or more and 70-80k miles.

I’m curious how often this is happening with other owners.

I pulled out my jack pucks and floor jacks and did a quick check…


Do you guys think it’s a failed bearing?

Mine is a 2025 RTI Gen 2, 1800 mi. Had to get towed to Eastvale Rivian. Loud noise coming from right wheel. Waiting for reply from Rivian. Not opened on the weekends.
