Had a free afternoon so checked out the OC auto show in Anaheim Convention Center. Sorry no images as I was feeling bit clusterphobic with all the people crowding every vehicle on the floor.

There are so many choices for SUV for less than $70K, albeit not BEV (except EV9). I can see why people just buy ICE and/or hybrids. The choices are abundant.

- ID.Buzz much nicer looking in person than in photos but its too much of modern minivan and lacks personality of the Microbus
- EX30 is a very nice vehicle for the price and would make a great commuter
- Escalade EV is huge and is every bit Escalade as one would expect
- No Jeep or Subaru at the show. Was hoping to see the Wagoneer S EV
- Exotic displays were lame as roped off static display only
- Macan EV looks better in person than in photo but could not get close as it was with exotics and roped off
- Spoke with Rove rep at their desk. The place sounds great and will check it out once it opens.

There were pretty much every Nissan, Honda, Toyota/Lexus/Kia/Hyndai/VW/GM/Ford vehicles there. They also had EV test drive course setup inside the convention floor. Nice touch. Long lines for people wanting to drive EVs.

If you live in LA/OC, just goto the LA auto show instead. This whole thing was not worth the effort.

The smaller shows like OC aren’t worth the time. Mostly a gathering of local dealers, little to no corporate OEM participation. The ones to attend are the ones on the international schedule, like LAAS (not when open to public, on industry and press days, full access). Even for that, the show is a shadow of what it used to be over a decade ago. Year after year OEMs have elected to put on their own launch events, in-person and virtual. Cost less than participation in the show circuit. Back then it would take up the whole LA Convention Center and take almost a full day to see everything. Now, after a few hours you’ve seen everything.
