My number has come up for an F150 lightning. But I prefer my Rivian. So I checked about flipping it and it looks like I could only net $3000 and they have you sign an agreement not to do that. Really does not seem worthwhile.

Figured I would ask what people thought here before I let my reservation expire.

I would probably wait to cancel until the dealer has it if you can. Just in case something unfortunate happened to your current vehicle. Thats my plan if my Debut Edition Lyriq ever shows up. I agree $3k profit isn't really worth it to buy and try to flip.

I wouldn’t flip it either as 3k gain can easily turn into a 3k loss if market dynamics change.

I had 2 lightings come up for order, let them both just expire. Lightning prices dropping like a rock.

Apparently it’s only ok for Ford DEALERS to profit off their vehicles above MSRP?

My name has been called for a Lightning and my reservation is at a dealer that sells for 3% under invoice. I'm still not going to order it.

They've raised the price so much + I don't qualify for the $7500 credit anymore. That $20k swing makes it a non-starter now in my book.

I ordered 5/27/21
Yes the price increase pushing it over $80,000 is part of the problem. So glad Rivian honored the original price.
if I placed the order it would still be about 3 months. So by then it could all be loss.
thanks for confirmation of my suspicions.

I asked my family and their of the same mind that $80,000+ is too much for a truck.

Most of the guys out there are in your same boat. These things are out of the grips of the people who would buy them. The only way prices come down is if people no longer pay the nosebleed pricing. That's what the government was planning on happening by changing the credit rules and putting a price cap on vehicles. People would lose the credit that was allowing them to afford the sky high price in the first place.

Then manufacturers would realize that the buyers they were counting on can no longer afford the truck and the people in a higher income tier aren't going to be interested in these average type vehicles, they are looking at Bentley's and Rolls' future EV offerings. Then they lower the prices because suppliers for raw materials will be forced to lower prices as their auto manufacturer customers will no longer be able to use the supplies at their price points.

Eventually this price pressure works its way down the entire supply chain. Unfortunately there is no way for the fed to apply downward price pressure ( deflationary policies) without inflicting a little hurt on everyone.
