I know the R2 software is a bit different, but on the R1 there is a master list of media apps that you can use to add and remove media apps from the media selector widget. If SiriusXM was not added to the media selector widget on that R2, it would not have appeared as a selectable source.

Whatever. Cell network coverage doesn't remain stagnant. Coverage maps do expand and new towers do get built overtime. And unlike gen1 or gen2 R1, the R2 has 5G instead of 4GLTE. Adventure vehicle? Get it straight. The brand positioning and products cater to an aspirational outdoor-oriented weekender lifestyle, not off-grid bug-out lifestyle. If you absolutely have to have OTA radio while camping, there are already lots of consumer electronics that have OTA receivers; like portable radios. It's also fairly common for GMRS radios to also have FM and NOAA capabilities. Just because the car doesn't have it, it isn't the end of the world. This is about as much as a non-issue as CarPlay or AA.
No real satellite antenna may be a deal breaker for me. I’ve has this for over 10 years and found it a must have. Cellular service is poor in many places in large cities like where I live. It’s nonexistent on many parts of highways and remote areas. Cell towers have been “coming” for decades. What would be good in addition to a real satellite antenna would be an antenna to get low orbit satellites WiFi.
And you're talking about SHTF emergency situation. Emergency preparedness, in general, doesn't have to be hardwired to your car does it? whatever car it is? C'mon man. If you want talk yourself out of buying a car, there are easier ways. And good luck finding an alternate modern BEV with terrestrial AM. Access to terrestrial AM for sake of emergency preparedness is a valid concern. But solutions exist and it doesn't have to be tied to your mode of transportation. Work the problem. Shouting into ether and shaking your fist at an automaker (any of them) isn't "working the problem". Put together an emergency go-bag to keep in your car. Like Range Rover vs Honda CR-V (current generation).I could forgive the lack of AM/FM/XM receivers if they didn't also get rid of the ability to use a suction cup mount to put a Starlink Mini dish under the sunroof. That works great in my Gen 1 R1S and I can often get 100 Mbps even while in motion. From what I understand it no longer works in the Gen 2 R1S or in R2 due to changes in the sunroof glass.
I do have to give Rivian some credit for eliminating the ugly shark fin antenna for the R2 however. I'm amazed how many reviews (basically all of them) never mention a single word about that even if they go on at great length about subtle details of the body design. Many also suggest that it's hard to tell the difference between an R1S and an R2 if they're not sitting next to each other. Just look for the shark fin (or lack thereof)
