I was planning to schedule a demo drive at the Richmond SC, but when I went to the site to schedule it all the dates were grayed out and it wouldn’t let me pick any. Is the SC closing or don’t have an R1T for a demo drive?

Chat with CS and ask them. The Richmond SC is not closing.

I did an R1S 2 weeks ago with 2 hours notice, but today was the first R1T drive available, not grayed out. I think with the availability of R1T, they're getting lots of inquiries and demo drives.

Thanks, I might try to get up with them next week. We are 4 plus hours from Richmond but about 8 hours from Atlanta so that would be quite the trip.

Not sure I'd drive 4-8 hours for a drive, but check both SC for available vehicles and then it might make sense.

I take delivery of a T next week and really think it's better than the S for us even though I'm trading a monster 3 row SUV. Wheelbase and length are bigger in the T, which means more space for stuff, better ride along with benefits of EV that opens up storage space. Down side is only 5 people can fit, but I only drive 7-8 twice a year, so wife's SUV should fill the need.

We have a model Y and a Ram truck but we’ve had some changes and neither of us drive to work daily like we had for the last 30+ years. We are thinking of going to one vehicle, that could also pull our 22 foot boat. We did a demo drive of a model X, but it didn’t really impress us, and we would prefer a truck. Before I put a deposit down though I want to do a demo drive. We aren’t in a hurry, but I was a little bummed when I looked into scheduling one with a R1T today.

Don't be bummed, Rivian projected take of R1S versus R1T incorrectly and as a result have a "glut" of R1T's to finish producing. Glut in this case means unsold extra, not a ton, but some is better than zero. I bought mine a 3 weeks ago and will get it next week, so just glad they had something I wanted. Definitely test drive as it's different for sure.

What my guide for the drive said to me is Rivian built both with high end unused components that will allow them to upgrade via software for a long long time, essentially something comes monthly (fix or upgrade). I'm nerdy and that sounded both technical and smart for them to do. They have 2 teams that get dozens of idea a week as fixes or upgrades and it's all essentially software. For example they may be working on an update when you hit your turn signal the appropriate camera projects what's next to you in the driver screen. Could be fantasy, but definitely possible with software. It's still a leap, new to deliveries although founded in 2009, 14 years ago with a different take on vehicles that I am used to, so always a risk.
