Other than the half shaft noise prior to replacement, my 23 R1S has been whisper quiet and rock solid. I drive the absolute piss out of it and am always impressed how little flex/noise I encounter in the cockpit.

I would hope the R2 is as good or better in this regard, as early reports so far indicate the cost-saving measures don't seem to have affected build quality or materials.

We have an R2 on reservation and I have demo drove twice. Both times have been amazing.

We are a Gen1 R1T owner and love it. INn the 3-1/2 years of owner ship we have had only 1 major issue and a few minor issues that were taken care of via a mobile appointment.

MAJOR:
After we picked up our R1T in May of 2023 about 3 weeks later the "headlight system"warning light came on. Basically we couldn't drive it at night and the Rivian Bat Signal that gets projected onto the ground wasn't working. We put in a service request and drove it to the service center (about 40 miles away). They gave us a rental. On day 4 they called us and said "we fixed it and you are good to go". We went down, pickedit up and about half way home, the issue started again. My wife called as we were driving and they said they would come to our house and pick it up and leave us a loaner (which was a white R1T). After about a week the service manager called and said he was about to call us to come pick it up, but the issue still popped up on his test drive. So, they brought in a "super technician" and after another week, they couldn't fix it. So, they flew in a Super Duper Tech from Normal and after a week they were able to diagnose the issue (a connector was shorting out), they had to run a scope through all the wiring to find it and since then.....no issues at all.

MINOR:
At almost a year, the 12v battery issue started. Called service, 3 days later, Kevin from West Sacramento (love Kevin), came out, replaced the 12v battery, checked all the bells and whistles, filled fluids, checked tire pressue. No issue since.

There have been a couple of cosmetic issues that didn't warrant a service call. Some of the seals on the drivers door was falling out....grabbed some gorrilla expoxy glue.......applied it, put the seals back in the door, shut the door and a hour later.....good to go!

We also had to have a windshield replaced. The one they put in (at the service center) I couldn not get it cleaned...it was like air bubbles where in the glass. So, after about 6 months (until I realized that, I took it back in and they replaced the glass.

Unlike the piece of crap Volvo XC40 EV we had for 10 months, the R1T is a dream and I think what Rivian has learned from the R1's is reflecting in the R2s. There will be some growing pains and imperfections, but they will figure it out
