So....while I broke away from 'work' for a few minutes to grab lunch, I nearly chocked when I got the below email. Needless to say, I cancelled my next meeting and couldn't click the 'Let's Go' button fast enough.

More than 3.5 years of waiting, it's finally happening! I'm still kinda in shock really.

Now I get to focus on the 8 step purchase process. So far so good.

For those really early pre-orders - just gotta keep the faith.

@Ccomtois - what is the subject of the email when it comes in? I would like to set up a filter for my email.

It's like the best email from Rivian you will ever receive....

Subject:
"It’s time to begin the purchase process."

Will definitely keep everyone posted. I am not on FB... ;-).

I'm just hammering thru the 8 steps: prob going to go w/ Rivian Insurance (Nationwide). The rate was not only better than State Farm that I've had for years, but it also has more coverage. I got quotes for everything I have: auto/home/umbrella policy.

Unfortunately....auto loan APRs are not great right now....as you prob all know. best rate I've gotten approved for so far is 3.99 (I have excellent credit and putting down a massing chunk of money)...and Rivian Finance approved me for 5.39%. Rates are bad, no two ways about it....and unless you're wealthy and are paying all cash this is all moot...which is NOT me. ;-)

Another thing to keep in mind from what I've learned over the last couple of days...it appears that many lenders don't even have Rivian in their Database. They are having issues w/ the MSRP, and there are other challenges. I spoke w/ autopay.com (they are great out of Denver) - and they advised me on just financing now, then doing a refinance. Not ideal, but whatever. And hope that the fed doesn't increase rates yet again in the coming month or two.

That's it for now...the two big pieces to get worked out are insurance + financing the thing. ;-)

More to come.

This is pretty cool. Looks like you have to be a member, but looks to be possible to join via ACC. (Is that right?) I will give it a shot later.

Super easy and free; unfortunately, it takes them a couple of days to approve you.

Thanks again, I'll see how it goes. Do you know if they do refi's?

I know the process (so I've heard is made that much easier when first going thru Rivian Finance and then just doing a refi).

I know I still have time....right now it's the waiting game on my delivery date.

Yes, you just can't pay cash for the car initially.

Not sure yet, waiting to hear from the person at the service center... May just ride over there and see if I can see it or talk to folks there ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Super bummed though, I was so ready to pick it up tomorrow.

She said there's a defect in the paint on one of the doors. I asked if it's a small area of paint and whether or not it's critical to be resolved prior to delivery in case I can have that resolved post-delivery to resume with tomorrow... Also stated that I'm not thinking with my brain at the moment and to let me know if that's a terrible idea ?
I just got the same message, was all set to pick up saturday. It's pretty frustrating because I already had to pull my insurance effective date forward to cover this coming in earlier but now they're saying it's not ready. Figure this stuff out before you tell me, please Rivian!

Wish I knew what the extent of the problem as well because I'm not particularly enthused about a "repair" being done to a brand new car. Trying to find out more.

I will be there tomorrow with my expected delivery/Pickup of my R1S. <I'm still in utter shock it's finally happening> I will most certainly ask if and when they anticipate First Mile Drives for the S...my thought is, not anytime soon because there just aren't that many of them. But hopefully 2023 they will bust it wide open.
