ChargePoint "partnership" - what is it?

Preparing for my delivery event in a couple days. Reading through the Delivery Checklist that Rivian puts on the Vehicle Overview link once you're into (or done with) the 8-step process. Well, the second preparation task is to link your account with an "Activate ChargePoint" hyperlink. The system gyrates a bit with "looking to see if you have a ChargePoint account" (which I do) and then it sends you over to the regular ChargePoint homescreen.

I tried it a couple of times thinking I must be missing it or doing something wrong because I couldn't identify anything specific about a link with Rivian. Then I noticed there's a 'Connections' section across the top banner and looked there. It opens a complete list of ALL the Organizations participating. I scrolled to the R's and did not find Rivian. I then tried the search filter for "Rivian" and got "no data available."

Does anyone know what this so-called partnership is about or what it's supposed to offer you? I must be doing it wrong....

I could be misremembering but I think ChargePoint charging is free with the Rivian Membership that you get for the first year free.

I don't recall any free charging but I believe it allows for payment through the app.

Ive definitely linked my Chargepoint account and still been charged at Chargepoint stations.

Also for linking the account I think I had some issues like yours but it worked correctly on a different device.

I've definitely been wrong at least twice before so this could make 3. It may have just been RAN charging that's free with membership and I was conflating that with the ChargePoint plug and charge ability.

If you connect your accounts (Rivian/ChargePoint), you can initiate ChargePoint charging from the Rivian app and you will get your charging receipt email via Rivian.

The only free charging I have encountered has been some 6.6kWh ChargePoint chargers that have free charging for all.

ChargePoint would not link for me initially. I was using Chrome. It did it immediately when I tried Edge.

I asked this very question at the SC (we have a lot of charge points here, including at work). The essence of their answer was that linking the account does nothing. At least nothing that you couldn’t already accomplish in the charge point app itself. The ChargePoint sessions do not show up in my receipts on the Rivian app either.
