Hi all - I have a R1T order from August 2021 that had the Max battery pack but earlier this month I decided I would forgo that to get the truck potentially sooner. I noticed on the AMA with Tony yesterday he said the current Tonneau cover needs to be reworked. I'm wondering if I'd be better off switching my config again (before 16th) to the manual cover? Anyone have any thoughts?

A quick search could be done that they haven't released the manual cover in the wild yet. Last Thursday/Friday a redditor had the truck delivered with no-tonneau cover even though it hadn't been announced that was being delivered either.

That being said, I have switched back to manual tonneau because of my lack of faith in Rivian's powered tonneau ever being reliable.

If you want your truck sooner spec the powered tonneau. I believe this will still get you a truck the quickest. I bet the manual option will be out very soon given that we know that no tonneau is already in production.

In that instance the owner forgot to add the cover back in after it was changed to an option. No manuals are being delivered yet. If OP changed to a manual cover they could be waiting longer than they would for a Max Pack with regular Tonneau.

Edit - By regular, I mean Powered

Thank you. I had read that the manual wasn't ready but wasn't sure if that had changed.

I believe they will ship "no tonneau" trucks without the manual cover and ship the cover later akin to the camp kitchen. There are people on the forums with an oct-dec delivery estimate with the manual config'd. I purposefully changed my config to manual prior to Oct 15th to see if it has a major effect on my delivery ETA (Currently dec22-jan23). My science experiments on the manual tonneau because that was my only change since my last eta.

Yes, we have not seen a manual delivered. It hasn't stopped me though I just can't trust they will get the auto to work right.
Only one truck with the "no tonneau" option has been delivered to our knowledge. The "no tonneau" option still has slats for the manual covers to fit in, which is why I believe Rivian will ship trucks config'd for the manual cover without the manual cover and ship the cover later.
