My windshield replacement experience does not match his and our R1S costs about the same to insure as the 2006 Lexus LX 470 it replaced. Is this guy making this stuff up? Maybe he's shorting the stock

Look at manufacturer marking on the passenger side bottom corner. I believe the manufacturer is Fuyao. US factory is in Ohio. It's been said the windshield is about $1800. Not sure how this guy ended up with $4500. Maybe waved his CEO business card around too much.
It was the R1T back window, not the front windshield. And, as already discussed, replacing the rear glass requires replacing more than just the glass.BS
I just had my windshield replaced at the SC. total cost $1,766.25. Included glass, sensor, recalibration, misc materials and labor. Fully covered by my insurance.
Probably not. That $4k covers more than just the price of the rear glass.I call bs on 4,000 for a windshield.
Why does the title on the link and this thread say windshield? It was the R1T back window, not the front windshield. And, as already discussed, replacing the rear glass requires replacing more than just the glass.
Beats the hell out of me, I didn't pen those. But I did read the MSN article which clearly identifies that it was the rear windshield. Why does the title on the link and this thread say windshield?
What wind does the rear glass shield?Beats the hell out of me, I didn't pen those. But I did read the MSN article which clearly identifies that it was the rear windshield.
Seems you may need to spend some quality time with Google. What wind does the rear glass shield?
I'M SO CONFUSED
We only call this a Rear Window, which was a great film from Alfred Hitchcock starring Grace Kelly, James Stewart, Thelma Ritter, and Aaron Burr…clearly identifies that it was the rear windshield.

Would certainly be more pleasurable than this conversation.Seems you may need to spend some quality time with your butt.
Outside of Hitchcock, who is "we"? Safelite and others in the industry frequently use the term rear windshield. We only call this a Rear Window, which was a great film from Alfred Hitchcock starring Grace Kelly, James Stewart, Thelma Ritter, and Aaron Burr
They do offer parts to third parties. I got my rear window replaced at Arseen Auto in San Jose for $1543.88 including parts, labor and tax. I did have to call around a bit. Rivian gave me half a dozen repair shops to check with and only Arseen actually had the glass. This sort of publicity will drive Rivian to make spare parts available for others to install.
They should allow their glass manufacturer to sell to Safelite so this specific issue doesn’t occur in future. It would also relieve pressure on the service centers.
So they can charge more?Outside of Hitchcock, who is "we"? Safelite and others in the industry frequently use the term rear windshield.
