Cell booster inside antenna placement

What is "evidence?" Radio engineering tells us that adding power and/or gain and/or placement does improve performance and range. If you're asking if someone has posted a build where they did this specifically on a Rivian, almost guaranteed not. It's probably a pretty big task to take that area apart and mod it. The antenna itself would be trivial.

I got no reply from Wilson about this.

One of my best friends is a VP in network engineering at AT&T, we've talked about this. Obviously there are things we can't just talk about publicly, but he just thinks it's old infrastructure (being replaced) and the fact that the truck is only 4G.

How much effort are you willing to put into this?

Swampnut, TFTR. My Effort so far is 1. locate the Rivian OEM Antenna Fakra Z connector above headliner. 2. Find aftermarket sources of antennas with either Fakra or sma connectors, 3. Find fakra z to sma adapter suppliers. 4. Capture the 50 or so Rivian logs when Cell disconnects and submit tickets for each one. 5. Converse face to face with Rivian SA who validates the connectivity is a common issue. Some of the long list of what I have left to do: 1. Determine RF dBd Gain of OEM antenna 2. purchase a RF signal strength meter. 3. make a decision on which aftermarket (AM) antenna to buy. 4. Determine if the Roof Antenna AMP Amplifier Unit Module PT00698830-A will be compatible with a AM antenna. FYI, in 2022, after delivery of my R1T LE Q, I installed... 1. a stand alone sirius receiver with high gain external antenna. 2. A stand alone GPS Satellite receiver. 3. Remove the Trunnel liners, Rear Seat back, and seats and replaced with a personal sleeping bed, 4. Installed rivet nuts on the bed rails, and assorted other mods that Rivian's "ivory tower children" never experienced in real world applications, hence they didn't think about during design. Also, on the very same day that I picked up my 2026 R1S LE Q, I removed both rear seats and installed cargo boxes and a bed. Is that enough evidence bases for you? You probably should just get a Starlink. I printed a roof glass mount for mine, and you can also just buy them.
