It’s the dumbest part of owning a Jeep…with the ducks a close 2nd. I won’t be waving (unless I know you)

I’m advocating for the Rivian “wink”. 2 flickers of your highbeams. Also if you drive an R1S step your game up. 90% don’t wink back and I just look like some crazed maniac trying to say hi! lol

I wound up behind an R1S the other day. Rivians are uncommon in my town (despite being not terribly far from the mothership in Normal). I flashed my brights but didn't get a response. No offense taken--it's easier to see a wave when passing than when waiting at a light. But, yeah, I always try to greet other Rivians--there are still few enough of us that the camaraderie is appreciated. I look forward to the day that our vehicles are a yawn--my RIVN will be way more valuable!
Me too! I can go more than a week without seeing another Rivian on my central Oregon coast town. I always wave when I see another Rivian but the responses now are not the same when I first got my R1S 2 years ago. I agree it is fun and friendly and feels like we're in a club lol. Keep up the waves for those of us rural Rivian folk who don't see like kind as often

Didn't read the entire thread. I live in Southern California. If I waved for every Rivian, my hand would never come down. :p

Early on we would wave, since there were so few R1S on the road. Now my region (Bay Area) has soo many (good thing).

We do say Rivian upon sighting (inside the car) much like slug bug back in my youth. We usually see 5+ per day.

You would likely develop carpel tunnel injury, also incur a sizeable bill for anti-depressants due to lack of people waving back.

R1s have been multiplying up here so quickly the idea of waving to others has lost its exclusive allure rather quickly. Me and the other riv blue R1T are in our own club though. I can count on the blue crew!✌

Too many "moms" driving them in SoCal... wouldn't want to start trouble

"Hey man, why you always waving at my wife?"
Absolutely not saying all women drive like so. Good, that's out of the way. Every single female Rivian driver I've come across—i.e. not every single one in the NA continent—were not aware of their surroundings to realize there is a Rivian across from them, ahead of them, next to them or behind them. Only one waved enthusiastically, but she was the passenger and probably the driver's wife. ??‍♂

OR could it be that @Jblaze121 has been waiving at them too much.

The most interesting about this thread is people reporting on the number of Rivian’s in different parts of the country. It’s probably a good predictor of which areas are rich and liberal.

Interestingly I live in the bay area, just south of Los Gatos, and while there are 4-5 Rivian’s in just my 400 home complex (average price probably about $2.3mm) there are very few out and about generally. While there are a shit ton of teslas (I own 3! - for now). I can be at a light with 5 cars and all of them are teslas.

I’m sure Rivian’s will be like teslas soon, after the R2 releases. Even in wealthy enclaves there’s only so many people dumb enough to spend $100k on a vehicle! ?? And yes I’m one of those!!?
