Greetings! Newbie here, just picked up my Gen 2 R1S last week. I love it! Still learning my way around, and this forum and YouTube videos have been VERY helpful. My understanding is that the Apple Watch is supposed to be compatible with the Rivian. I've seen examples of people creating shortcuts on their Apple Watch to unlock the doors, etc. And I've been able to do that too. But does the Apple Watch actually pair with the Rivian like the iPhone does? I can't find an Apple Watch App for Rivian, and haven't been able to pair the watch with the Rivian via Bluetooth. I'd like for the Rivian to unlock automatically when it detects the watch (just like it does with the iPhone), as opposed to having to physically do it via the shortcut on the Watch. Am I missing something, or is this the extent of the compatibility?

Feature hasn’t been launched yet. I have a Gen 2 as well. There a few features I noticed that haven’t launched yet. Probably will launch with a software update this year. It’s called Apple Car Key, different than current setup with using phone as key.

I have a Google Pixel watch that I got for free as part of an upgrade about a year ago. I don't wear watches and the wife didn't want it, on the fence about just putting it on ebay to get rid of it. Threads like this keeping my hope alive.

They bring this feature out for Android watches, I might just have to wear it, LOL. ?

According this it is supported from apple wallet what my guess it extends to the watch like Apple Pay.

What is Apple car key?
This feature lets users add their car key to the Wallet app, then use the wallet app to lock, unlock, and start their car. While specific implementations vary depending on the carmaker, there are a few different ways Apple’s car key feature can be used:

  • Passive entry: Approach your car with your device, it unlocks, start your car when inside, and walk away from your car with your device, it locks.
  • Proximity: Lock, unlock, and start the car by holding your device close to the door handle or key reader.
  • Remotely: You can use your device to remote lock and unlock your car, and use other features.

Interesting - I’ll check it out. Thanks for sharing.
