Mods: Please don't move this thread. This may belong in the subforum for BT and such, but my account has a problem where I can't read my own threads in that forum, and nobody will answer me about fixing that.

I can duplicate this issue every time. It's something I do somewhat often, as I slowly unload things, or just do projects in the car. I'm often tinkering with mods and such. If I leave it open for a while, unlocked, it goes to sleep as you'd expect. If I then close everything up and walk away with my phone in my pocket, it won't lock. It also doesn't give you the "car is unlocked check doors" message for a very long time. Today we got it at 8am, and the truck was closed up around 3pm yesterday. And just never self-locked.

I'm not necessarily looking for, or thinking, that there's a fix we can implement. More of an FYI. I just need to remember to manually lock it. Luckily we live in a place where we sorta just leave things unlocked anyway. And if I leave a door open, within 1-2 hours, a neighbor will text me and ask if there's a problem, LOL.

Are you talking about the Auto-relock feature? If so, this is expected. It only auto re-locks if you unlock, then don't open a door for a few minutes. If you open the door at all, this feature won't re-lock.

Maybe you're talking about proximity lock?

Walk-away unlock after driving it and parking. It's 100% reliable if I park, close all doors, and walk away. If I leave a door open for a while, then close it, then walk away...no lock.

Oh - you are saying your truck now goes to sleep and then misses the proximity lock? This doesn’t seem surprising unfortunately- the way Rivian’s Bluetooth proximity locking works once unpacked make you realize how much of a miracle it is that it works *at all*.

I know you won’t find this helpful, but my T has been buggy as hell since the last update. The drivers side back door randomly stopped present its handle, and then when I opened from inside, it stopped locking when the other 3 doors would lock. I’ve had to reset the car twice. Also, on occasions my doors lock, but I don’t hear the chirping (or owl) and my headlights and back light bar stay on. Not sure how long they remain on, since every time I’m locking the door I’m on a rush! Also, my PAAK has been laughable. I have to literally take my phone out of my pocket for it to work.

Sorry, had to take the opportunity to whine a bit.

Are you initially unlocking via the app or by PAAK? I seem to recall this kind of behavior if unlocking via the app.

PaaK. The situation is this:

Walk up to the car at a store, it auto unlocks.
Load up.
Drive home.
Park and leave a door open as well as the tailgate.
Unload over the next 30-90 minutes.
Close doors.
Walk away with phone.

Nothing happens, stays unlocked.

Well now I’m confused. You disabled proximity lock while parked at home but still expect your R1T to lock when you park at home and then walk away? What am I missing here?

Sorry I misread your question, proximity unlock is disabled. Of course proximity lock is enabled, and works, EXCEPT in this case. That's the point.

Have never done what you do. PAAK for me forever, proximity locking and unlocking works well; disabled at home. What I have noticed is that now it takes longer for my Rivian to lock itself up whenever I walk away (I listen for the owl hoot.) Have to check app to make sure that it is locked.

Mine does this......I suspect it's because it goes to sleep, and doesn't check the key present state again until it wakes up. No idea how to fix it, I assumed it was a bug and was part of the "It's supposed to work this way" that Rivian corp and users keeps telling me about all the asinine decisions made on this trucks access system

I just assume the truck is an idiot and can't tell when a key is nearby or not and implemented the personal process of always using the fob to change the lock state.

Once I dropped my expectations, I'm far less disappointed. Imagine that.

You can still lock with the app, don’t need the fob.
