Rivian Wall Charger Order Issue

So I preorder an R1S with a wall charger ($500) in March 2021, which is expected to be fulfilled Oct-Dec. I ordered another R1S, which I switched to an R1T in June of last year.

The truck came in last week, and now rivian won’t fulfill the wall charger order. They’re saying if I want a wall charger, I have to pay new pricing of $800, which is crazy. I was hoping to make it with the travel charger until the S comes in, but there’s just no way.


My guide isn’t helping at all, and he’s saying they can’t sell chargers without a truck/SUV, which is BS because I could just log in and buy one online.

Maybe just get it from a private sale? I see a few on the marketplace in that price range.

There are other options, I’m using this one, decent app and features with a good price at $400 from Amazon.

wait till your pre-order charger ship (oct-dec) or get something else. The rivian charger is pretty basic so far. There are plenty of other options.

Charger pricing is matched to the truck purchase. I assume you must have picked one from the R1 shop that did not have a charger with it. Only option is to get from Gear shop at new pricing. Or check with your electric company to see if they have any specials.

Nothing special about the Rivian charger. If I had to pay $800 I would have gotten something that my Electric company offered rebates on.

I’ve bought a charge point level-2 charge for the house 4 years ago and it works just fine, even on the R1T. Skip the sticker and get one sooner. I bought another last year to install in another location , came right away.
