I got the same e-mail, Jan 2023 reservation.Got this email - YES to the first question. Is this just marketing or - hey get ready - your reservation to car is coming soon? Especially the PREPARE for PURCHASE? Hoping for a thanksgiving miracle...

marketing. id be surprised if you get your vehicle in 2023, but we have seen stranger things with their selection process and the "Rivian Lottery" in the past.

Have you done a demo drive / called them to say you're ready to go ASAP? Not sure how the lottery works, but I was a later reservation and have a confirmed configuration.

Can't hurt. Also may help to just call the main line and get to someone and say "I'm ready to go when you're ready to sell me a car." I do suspect squeaky wheel gets the grease to some extent, but I'm in processing estimate hell now (and they say no shop access once you confirm config).

You may be surprised; I get the feeling that Rivian is working hard to maximize Q4 deliveries.
I got an email a week or so back giving me a VIN and telling me to complete the steps for delivery. For various reasons, I need to take delivery in 2024 thought that it would not be a big deal to push what was likely a mid-Dec delivery a week or two to Jan 2. My guide said that they need to make deliveries as soon as possible when the vehicle is identified however, so I would need to be detached from that vehicle and reassigned to a later build.
Having waited 3-1/2 years, delaying a few more weeks or even months is not that big of a deal, but at the risk of stating the obvious, it sure seems like Rivian is keen to get as many vehicles as humanly possible in customers hands before the end of the year.

I think you're right. They definitely want to show the momentum to investors. I do wonder what the 2024 updates on the line are - I'd imagine NACS is the big change and doubt they'd put 800V in at that point but waiting may prove the better move (says the guy eager to get one sooner anyway)

If Rivian sent me a config email and said you can have an R1S in 30 days - I'd do it. There's just no other vehicle like it - and it's amazing that I can't give anyone my money for any other vehicle but I don't see any other options I like more.
