Edmunds went hog-wild and took both an F-150 Lightning and a Rivian R1T to a sled pull:

100% stock, didn't even air down the tires. Rivian outpulled the Lightning, but fell short of modified conventional pickups. I'm sure it wouldn't take much to beat them - the sled weighs ~34,000 pounds, *WAAAAAY* over the tow-rating, so something to prevent the front end from lifting up would help.

Now this is some good, old, consumer advice. I've been meaning to get that 34,000lb sled out of my backyard for ages!

I think they should have put the Rivian into an off-road mode instead of towing mode. Rally probably would have been what I chose. Changing suspension height after hooking up might've done better at getting the load leveled out.

Eh, I agree with offroad - don't know about rally, that would have probably allowed too much wheelspin. They probably should have at least aired down a couple PSI, though.

They boo'ed the future, which makes sense, since they like their stupid polluting diesels.

There have been several R1T pulls. Here are a couple I've seen.

I heard some booing of the Lightning. But I'm sure there was much confusion "but that's just an F-150!"

Eh, I think that's more Ford love than anything else, glad it did well all the same. Any other brand probably would've gotten booed over the Ford.

I think they would have boo'ed for both. they just assumed the F150 was gas powered version. They probably thought it was a competition of new gas powered F150 against Rivian all electric. .

you are wrong about this. They were not booing the truck. Those boos were from all the 2018 preorder holders in the stands.
