Rivian R1T R1S Dashboard Phone Charger - MagSafe compatible (TWRAPS) 1-NC
Hey Rivian enthusiasts!

I'm excited to share the latest from TWRAPS: our Dashboard Phone Mount for Rivian R1T & R1S has just been redesigned from the ground up! This magnetic iPhone holder is now even stronger, built with premium matte black plastic for unbeatable durability that keeps your phone secure on the roughest roads—no more worries about bumps or vibrations knocking it loose.

But that's not all—we've added a game-changing charging version! It features a Qi 2.2 25W magnetic charger that routes the cords neatly under the dash without any disassembly required. It taps directly into your OBD port for seamless power, and we include an OBD to USB-C adapter in the kit. Plug-and-play simplicity at its best, keeping your setup clean and your battery topped up.

Easy install in just a couple of minutes: just click the base into place, attach the MagSafe holder or charger, and you're good to go. MagSafe compatibility requires a MagSafe case.
Proudly made in the 🇺🇸 USA. Fits all Rivian R1T/R1S models from 2021-2026, including Gen 2.

Grab yours now during our Black Friday sale with 20% off using code BFCM25! Sale expires tonight.

Are these molded or 3D printed ?

Any chance you can sell one without the OBD adapter ? I already have one installed, that I can plug into.

3D printed with carbon fiber infused ABS. Very thin layer lines, it doesn't look like what you probably expect from a 3D print...past the first image that's a render, the rest are actual photos (to give you an idea of the quality).

As for the OBD - technically yes, but economically not worth it. We have a charge for customizations as it adds labor, which will be higher than the savings from the OBD adapter. The adapter is cheap, it's the 25W charger and the shipping that drive up the cost.

Thanks - I'll likely order one of these soon. Do you know when the non-extension cord version will be available ?

I hope by the end of the year or early January. I’ve already ordered them but it takes some time to produce the custom cords.

Unbiased third party review of those prints...they are exceptional and most people who aren't 3D printing people would just assume it's normal plastic. I should have forced him to show me all his 3D secrets when I visited the shop. This is my review of the front console organizer:

Will the placement cause the phone to over heat in the summer. Is there anyway some cool air is blowing on it?

No air in that area... I personally haven't had issues with the placement. For the record - we've had a product for that placement for over a year, this is just a complete redesign of the product based on feedback + new version that charges. But the placement is pretty much the same as it's been for a while without issues with overheating.

In summer in Phoenix, I've had overheating issues with the phone in that location. It's one reason I moved mine to the left, where it does get some air. And then I changed my charger to one that has a built in cooler, which solves everything. Non-summer and non-Phoenix in Southern areas will probably result in a hot but not overheating phone. Other areas will probably not even be very hot.

You should look into the cooled chargers as an enhancement. They are "game changing".

I did try that (few months of testing) and liked it overall but found that some of them developed noise from the fan... so my guess those will be 1* reviews and returns on Amazon, hence my hesitation to commit to that for now. The current 25W charger that we use doesn't overheat the phone though, that has been thoroughly tested too.

As soon as you try to make something better, with the added complexity, you have more failures and more cost. And then you have idiots going nuts and giving you shit reviews. This is an unfortunate reality of running a business. I've had to learn to offer fewer features on our services sometimes because of this rule.

There are two types of "cooled" chargers. One is simply a fan removing heat, and another has a Peltier thermocouple providing an actual cold surface. I've tried a few fan-driven ones and had variable results. Less overheating, but I did have one get noisy after a short time. I've been using an active cooler for a while in the Rivian, and it's been great. The phone actually gets cold. No issues so far.

Yup, I agree.

As for the chargers - I've tested both. Peltier is super cool but currently no availability of those that are Qi2.2 25W compatible...only Qi2 15W. I really wanted 25W for the upgrade though...for 25W currently only fan cooling is available. I may be able to customize down the road but when it comes to the chargers - we basically have to have a factory make them for us etc, we can't make these in-house at the moment. I've looked into that too but unit economics would make 0 sense to bring that in-house given that pretty much 100% of the important parts are made in China with no domestic alternatives :(

Here's the thing though; my observation is that heating slows the charging so much that you may get faster results with a cold 15w than a hot 25w. I don't have strict testing, but observations of the phone saying it has stopped charging due to heat, very often in summer. I prefer to KNOW that the phone will be charged in an hour than wonder if it will be charged in 20 minutes, or 60, or 120, or not at all.

Of course, the whole thing with getting them from China is a huge valid challenge.
