Saw this posted by @Hilbe - Rivian's patent for V2X / V2L dated yesterday July 8th.

V2X = vehicle-to-everything charging (general umbrella term for transferring the electricity stored in EV batteries to grid, buildings, houses, etc.)

V2L = vehicle-to-load means that using a DC-to-AC inverter and AC power outlets, the EV battery can power plug-in electric devices, equipment, and appliances.

More important news:

Wow, that is one terrible Photoshopping!

This appears to be specific to installs with their brand home-battery, too. So no use with Powerwall.

It is just a patent. Companies file them all the time, most don’t lead to products or take years to develop.

How many patents has Rivian filed this year?

The real question is if they roll it out, will us Gen 1 be able to use it?

They have said many times that the G1 vehicles have the capability so I would say yes, if it comes to market G1 should get it as well.

Especially at a time when one could easily use AI to generate a decent image within minutes. The product might be decent but bad marketing gives off very different vibes.

Wasn't it RJ who said it's possible but need a newly designed wall charger, which they'd already been working on?

From what I have seen, your Rivian is fully capable of this today. You just dont have a simple way to see that its happening.

Do people still photoshop now that AI exists? Usually ChatGPT makes perfect Rivians.

Yes because most people dont know how to train AI on 100% product accuracy, hence all the childish content you see out there. AI is easy until you actually want something you can stand behind.

Of course you’re going to need a wall charger to connect to the DC pins for V2H - that’s a given for DC BiDi, and since our R1 platform is not capable of outputting AC over the J1772, absolutely necessary.
