We just got back from a roadtrip on the OEM Pirelli's. Tread was getting low and they started making weird groaning noises on winding roads. After 32k miles it was a sign.

I wanted the Nokian Outpost nAT's but they were out of stock. These Yokohama Geolandar AT4's were available immediately and at the same price so I figured to give them a try. Note the spelling: geolandAr if you're searching (with an A not an E). There isn't much written up here so wanted to post a few pictures and give my initial feedback:

HUGE IMPROVEMENT!! Better than the OEM's on DAY ONE.

They are quiet and have a much softer ride than the OEMs ever did. Even before completely backing out of the parking spot I was thinking: WOW! These are good!

Only a few miles on them so far but a huge, night and day difference. Too early to compare efficiency but I'll post back after our next road trip. We're almost never off-road but I'm sure these will be fine, and they have 3-peak snowflake for winter as well. Running 48psi now but will bump to at least 50.

Cost was just under $1500 installed with tax and tire warranty.

Look great to me…they are 18/32 so treadlife should be 40-50k miles. Prob. 5-10% less efficient than OEM pirellis.

I have the previous version of this in LT275/60r20. My efficiency is about the same as the OEM Pirelli Scorpion P275/65R20, about 2.0mi/kWh at 65mph (270mi range). When I looked at these a few weeks back I observed no weight reduction between the tire models, beware they are HEAVY, 10 lbs a corner more than the Pirelli’s and you’ll notice it in your efficiency.

I found the last model to be quiet for an AT, so given their focus on noise reduction with these I’m curious what the perceived noise will be. The old model handled well in snow, decent in rain, but is awful with ice. I’m eagerly waiting for winter testing from tire reviewers to learn if wet and ice handling has improved.

Yokohama has a (30-day?) satisfaction guarantee, so if you aren’t totally satisfied with the purchase be sure to use it!

Keep us posted! I’m very curious how you make out. Efficiency is a big thing I suppose as is road noise. I realize it may be difficult to get an accurate efficiency rating with the weather getting colder in PA.

It's always been that way FWIW.
Have an older generation of them on an ICE SUV and have been happy with them...

So you started with 275/65R20 (34") Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus tires and went to 275/65R20 (34") Yokohama Geolandar A/T 4 tires, correct? So no change to the speedometer software necessary, right?

0.2” diameter difference; essentially the same. Absolutely no reason for reprogramming. Nothing to reprogram to anyway, since there are only 3 builds of the software profile for gen1.

According to the Yoko website they are 53.4 pounds vs 57.3 for the Nokian Outpost nAT’s. I think Pirelli’s were 48 pounds. So weight wise I thought I was in the middle between OEM and Nokian’s which are well liked. Granted, more than just weight goes into efficiency.

Thus far they get an A for being quiet and comfortable. I will pay attention to the 30 day trial, thank you.
