For those attempting to make automated gates work. I purchased a Liftmaster 850lm transmitter, wired it to the NO and Com ports (and 12V supply). I ended up purchasing a Chamberlain 950EV to make it work. Once I had the right remote it worked instantly.

The Chamberlain 950EV is a remote just to clarify.

I have an automated gate that uses a very old remote with the dip pin settings. I was able to key it into my R1T garage door settings with the old hand held remote.

Good idea, One problem: not water proof.
Rivian need to open the frequency to other manufacturers, I have Ghosts controls, been waiting 2 years. They keep telling me, “in the works”

Actually it is waterproof. I placed the unit in a larger control box. Works great.

Only the 950ev? I wonder if other single button remote may work. I've only tried lift Master remotes with the dip switches .

Yes other remotes will work and they are typically listed with ad’s for the receiver. Since I live 5 min away from a Home Depot the Chamberlain remote was quick and easy to purchase.

Yeah, I used a 891LM remote with the 850LM receiver on a gate with the Rivian with success.

I will also note that even using Liftmaster-branded "universal" remotes with both the 850LM and a Liftmaster gate opener resulted in no success with the Rivian. I had to get the specific liftmaster remote that was initially intended to be used with the opener/receiver. In my case, for both, it was a 891LM.

I’m confused by this thread - i need to get into my mom’s condo complex, but training the rivian with her remote fails. Are we saying to train the rivian with THIS remote? or hard wire this remote into the truck? or…

Liftmaster 850lm, is a receiver that attaches to any gate control boars to make it compatible with liftmaster or chamberlain remotes. The condo would have to give you access to their gate opener internal board.

How did you get your R1 to work with your gate? I have a MightyMule opener that also is old and uses dip switches (no rolling code) but my R1S won‘t recognize it. My 2 garage LIftMaster openers programmed no problem. Thanks in advance.

Look at the Liftmaster 850lm. Wire it to the NO and Com (+ 12V on board power).
