They have a charger up there, but I didn't get a chance to use it since it's only 90 miles from my house. Was fun going up skyline drive and got some great looks from people while cruising through the campground

Nice! We were heading there for Memorial Day weekend a couple of years ago and it was 97 degrees on I-81 before we turned left into the mountains. My wife almost made me turn around..."I'm NOT tenting in this heat!"

In the hour it took us to get to Big Meadows the temperature had dropped to the low 70's and we had a wonderful weekend. It's my sister's favorite place to camp (she's in Sterling), but we tend to do the PA state parks instead.

We stayed at the lodge at Big Meadows in June. We got a lot of questions about the R1T while parked outside of reception/checking in. There's (1) charger at Big Meadows near the visitor center and (1) 10 miles north at Skyland. They can get snatched up quickly and they are not fast, but work in a pinch.

Sounds like you had a good trip!

Yea, I have stayed at the "cabins" in the late fall and it can be quite cozy during the cool and sometimes rainy fall evenings there.

Not that Skyline Drive is like Yellowstone, but I'm always amazed at all the National Parks and their infrastructure. When you think about what it took to build the roads, water sources, run power, gas stations, buildings, etc in the middle of nowhere it is really remarkable.

Much of that was built in the middle of the Depression, to keep Americans working when the private-sector economy had collapsed. FDR and others had the wisdom to match "people looking for work" with "what Americans need for the future." Wish we'd had more of that wisdom in the last recession -- we'd have better roads, bridges, public transport, parks, schools, maybe healthcare....

Best wishes!

No. Just no. And I will not say more, as I don't want to be banned. Because what you post is fine, and my disagreement will be politics. That is how it works.

Thanks, @mkhuffman, for a reply that says much, and says it tactfully.

Since I also don't want you to be banned, I'll leave it at that.

Very best wishes!
