This week the R1T hit 4,994 miles and it seemed like a good idea to rotate the tires. We have a two post lift so I ordered four of the hockey puck inserts from Jeff Bezos at

A couple of things to know when you do this. They say to set the ride height to the highest setting.. Then, go to settings and put it in tire rotation mode. From what I can tell the tire rotation mode locks up the rear tires and allows the front tires to rotate. This is a heavy truck, and the wheels have five lug nuts. For such a heavy truck I am surprised it doesn't have eight. When you put them back on the torque is supposed to be 140 foot pounds.

You need the hockey pucks if you are using a lift, or some way to put your jack on the frame and not the plastic. The pucks I bought have three magnets to hold them in place in addition to an "O" ring, which seems like a clever idea. The "O" ring is useless and only makes it hard to use. I tried putting some silicone lube on it and still no luck. As you can see, the "O" ring got cut when I installed it.

Rotating the tires took less time than putting it on the lift! I also set the tire pressure to 48 PSI.

It's a Bendpak. I'm not that impressed with it, but the Rivian isn't close to maxing it out!

I had the SSF Rivian SC rotate my wheels/tires for $60. I marked the tires before bringing it in for rotation so I could know for sure what they did --not just what they said they did ;)

When I got the truck home after the rotation, I checked the markings and learned that they moved:
  • the front-driver wheel to the back-driver position
  • the back-driver wheel to the front-driver position
  • the front-passenger wheel to the back-passenger position
  • the back-passenger wheel to the front-passenger position
Not what I expected nor what I had heard/read from anywhere on this forum. ?‍♂

I don't have a spare, on this truck or my other truck, so I just put the fronts on the back and the backs on the front. If I had more than a can of fixaflat for a spare I'd do a 5 tire rotation.

I don't have a spare, on this truck or my other truck, so I just put the fronts on the back and the backs on the front. If I had more than a can of fixaflat for a spare I'd do a 5 tire rotation.

I have a spare and do the five tire rotation, only need my Daytona floor jack and one puck.

Instead of fix-a-flat, I would carry a plug kit, that is what I do in my cars without spares.

FYI. Rear wheels will always be locked as they have the electric motor driven parking brake embedded in the caliper. In fact to release the rear wheels say for towing if the vehicle is dead you have to use a special kit by Rivian that has a battery in it. As to using the highest height mode and tire change mode that is so you lock out the auto air suspension so it does not attempt to make adjustments while you are working on the truck.

FYI if you have a Discount Tire store close to you they partnered with Rivian and will do a tire rotation plus a balance for $40. I did not check to see how they rotated the tires but they said 3 wheels were slightly off and they performed a rebalance.

That’s how I’ve always seen them rotate tires. Fronts to back and backs to front. They keep them on the same side of the vehicle as well.

Do you know what the tire charge mode does?
tire change mode per my conversation with mobile tech last week locks the suspension system so it cannot raise or lower accidentally on you while you have your hands in there

That’s how I’ve always seen them rotate tires. Fronts to back and backs to front. They keep them on the same side of the vehicle as well.
Mobile tech was wanting to cris cross rear tires I asked not to. I have always just rotated front to rear and rear to front for past 50+ years onall kinds of vehicles with all types of tires.

FYI. If mobile tech is rotating your tires and you have running boards installed they need an extra puck on their jackstand/ jack fora little extra height to clear the running boards I needed to loan him one of mine

Or, you can contact Rivian service and they'll send a technician to your home to rotate the tires on your Rivian for $65.00. Not a bad hit in the pocketbook. Well worth it, I think.
Very true, considering the last few visits to Discount Tire took me no less than 4 hours in wait time, an extra $15 sounds pretty good to me!
