RAN Rivian charging station now live in San Antonio @ La Cantera

We've got Fort Worth and San Antonio on our schedule in the next couple weeks, so it's great to see the RAN charger network finally making some inroads into the central Texas area. I've had to roundtrip to the Woodlands a couple times from Austin in the last two months, and the only spot I had any luck in that general area was an EV Go station at Cyfac town center about 20 miles away. But that was hit and miss each time, and the fast chargers weren't all that fast, depending on the ambient temps and the whims of the EV Go network patron deities. I don't even want to think about getting to Galveston.

Its been there for a few months…we’ve used it on two trips so far!

I took a road trip 6-22 Oct 2023. Road trip: Houston, TX – Ft Stockton, TX - Tucson, AZ – Sedona, AZ – Las Vegas, NV – Hurricane, UT – Moab, UT – Montrose, CO – Salida, CO – Shamrock, TX – Houston, TX.
I maximized the Rivian Adventure Network (RAN), which is Awesome and currently FREE! I stopped in San Antonio, Sedona AZ, Kingman AZ, Las Vegas NV, Grand Junction CO, Montrose CO, Salida CO and finally Centerville TX. I will say that the status bars at the top of the units either rotate through the colors or maybe as I approached, they all appeared RED which indicates they are not functioning. It got me several times. But as I pulled in, the color was white, and they were functioning just fine. Also not too busy.

Road trip was 3,684 miles long, I consumed 1,529 kWh, avg efficiency 2.45 mi/kWh, and estimate 677kWh from RAN units. In total I spent $351.72 in energy costs all stops at Electrify America, minus 2 Tesla Supercharger with magic dock stops.

Sounds like an epic journey! I experienced something similar in salida, co a few days ago. The status looked red but then changed to white as I approached. Polarized glasses maybe?

Well, San Antonio area will soon have quite a few EA fast charging options. Good to see. But I’ll mainly use the RAN unless Eletrifry Ohmerica is cheaper somehow.
