A quick 2 night camping trip near Meadows of the Dan in southern VA. We spent a few days visiting the grandkids in Centreville (my son has two 50 amp NEMA 14-50 plugs in his garage), then went over to the Shenandoah Valley on I-66 and I-81. Stopped for an errand in Roanoke VA.
Used the RAN charger there. Great location. Earth Fare grocery (awesome beer selection), Mellow Mushroom pizza, and more. I was at a high SOC since it was only 180 miles from Centreville. But started at over 210 kW.
From there an hour to Floyd VA, and on to to Rocky Knob campground on the Parkway. Did a bit of hiking, stopped by Villa Appalaccia winery (try a bottle of their outstanding 2020 Primitivo). Then topped off the charge at the RAN at Meadows of the Dan (about a quarter mile off the Parkway). Nice coffee shop just a few steps away. Left this morning, topped off again in Meadows of the Dan, and headed down US 58. Elevation at Meadows of the Dan is 3000 ft. Lots of construction, and steep grade. The ā15 minuteā gauge was pegged at 4 m/kWh going down the hill ?.
Then across Virginia, thru the Triangle in NC. Stopped for 20 minutes at an EA station but since weād been going downhill with a tailwind by the time I got to Emerald Isle (elevation 0 ft), my efficiency was 2.93 for 292 miles! I really didnāt need to charge before I got home, but we needed a stop for us and the dogs.
