Trip Report: Denver to Grand Lake, CO with R1T towing 4500lb boat/trailer

Sorry for the crosspost, but I had originally asked about this over in the Rocky Mountain regional forum so I followed up there as well.

I ended up getting my R1T about 3 weeks ago and towed my boat from Denver, CO up to Grand Lake, CO on Friday. I was worried about making the trip prior to getting the truck, but after towing the boat up to Ft. Collins and back a few times I was much more confident that I'd be able to make it.

As it turns out I had NOTHING to worry about. Here are my trip details:

Beginning Charge: 100%
Total Distance: 93 miles
Average Efficiency: 1.28 mi/kWh
Total Energy: 72.6 kWh
Ending Charge: 42%
Total Elevation Gain: 8653 ft
Total Elevation Loss: 6155 ft

This truck is a towing beast. I couldn't be happier, or more impressed.

With the gobs of torque these have, I bet those switch backs on the way up were a breeze..

My biggest question, how much recharge did you get on the decent into Winter Park?

Nice! Have yet to take our 6k lb ski boat up to Granby but have been optimistic she’ll make it no charge stops.

We used to put the boat into Grand Lake for July 4th under the fireworks. It was pretty adventurous retrieving in the dark with a bunch of overserved boaters around. One year the fireworks barge exploded when the finale charge accidentally went off early.

Do you know how your range increased in miles. I took mine from Tahoe to Carson City and only added 5 miles of range. 2500’ climb but only 21 miles long. I was expecting more.
