  1. Where are the Rivian "adventurers"?

I consider there to be lots of posers out there looking for internet cred for their like $60k camp setup. The rest of us just go out there. Hereā€™s a few just from searching my photos for ā€œRivianā€.
  2. New Electric Tonneau Replacement installed -- no difference from original

Rolling a cover into a rectangular space just requires a two roller configuration.
  3. Rivian fares poorly in "independent" charging-performance test

This is a stupid methodology that's likely intentionally biased to look bad for many EVs. That said, ANYTHING that pushes Rivian to get a better charging curve is welcome in my book. It just tapers off too fast, imho. I've charged at my normal gas stations before, pull in, plug in, and then...
  4. GM delays EV pickup production by a year to 2025

The Lyriq owner I ran into at the charger didnā€™t need to be asked anything. He stood out in front and was more than willing to tell anyone and everyone to not buy ā€œthis piece of shit masquerading as a carā€. He might have been an outlier and got a lemon, but it wasā€¦definitely something.
  5. Too complex to use while driving, or parking.

Put the odo on the dash, it belongs there. I have a place far from cell service with some complicated turns. Sending multiple ā€œpinsā€œ or GPS cords of ā€œturn left hereā€ and then ā€œright hereā€ versus the old directions of ā€œafter 1.4 miles turn right, then 2.2 miles later turn leftā€ has resulted in...
  6. Rivian won't sell me a truck due to my middle name. WTF.

I ran into the same issue. Called my State Farm agent, and they had sent me digitally new insurance cards with my middle initial before I was even off the phone with them. my guess is that the removal of the wife is what keyed them about re issuing everything and then the rest was...
  7. 10-80 charging analysis post 2023.30 - underwhelmed

30 minutes to go from 10-70 is pretty bad. They really need to figure out a way to leave it uncorked at 200kW until 50% or more. I honestly thought it held 200kW until 55 or 60 in the past, but canā€™t really remember. I just always wonder if theyā€™re being conservative, or they just need more /...
  8. mandating AM radio...they're serious about this

Spotify works great for me in areas with zero cell reception. As long as you are currently playing music, when it loses service itā€™ll just start looping songs that it has cached, which are quite a few. In 8 hour drives with no coverage, Iā€™ve maybe had repeat songs only a couple of times. Now...
  9. Introducing RMaxx Running Boards & Rock Sliders for Rivian R1T / R1S from Team 1EV

Mine are shipping too! Very excited for this.
  10. EV's more expensive to charge than ICE Counterparts?

My electrical rates are close to yours ($0.07/kWh for the first 450kWh in the month, $0.10/kWh for the next 450kWh and then $0.18/kWh for anything above that), and solar still made sense for me and makes sense for many of my neighbors. But you do have to be able to qualify for the credit, and...
  11. EV's more expensive to charge than ICE Counterparts?

Yea, we have low rates here (~$0.13/kWh blended average for the month) and expensive solar install ($4+/W). It generally didn't make sense for me, until it did. Tesla install flat at $2/W with 0-down 0.99%APR alongside federal tax credit for 25%. So, install $40k system go live in November...
  12. EV's more expensive to charge than ICE Counterparts?

Most net metering doesnā€™t pay out, and if it does pay out it itā€™s usually at ā€œfuel avoidance ratesā€ which is like a third of a quarter of retail rates. Solar ROI is also variable. In many places itā€™s sub 10-year ROI, like for me Iā€™m running at about a 5 year ROI, maybe even less depending upon...
  13. Updated Powered Tonneau & Manual Tonneau Bed Covers Coming Mid-Summer! RJ Shows Off in First-Look Video

If it really does stick out when open, I can only imagine that creating a repair nightmare too. When mine stuck out, and I was loading the bed A LOT of stuff was pushing against the part that was sticking out. That uneven pressure is going to cause it to bind over time. It's one of the...
  14. Introducing RMaxx Running Boards & Rock Sliders for Rivian R1T / R1S from Team 1EV

Get in line behind #2149. I'm really hoping for the next batch...but think it might be two more for me -- there's some #19xx orders I know that are out there for sliders.
  15. Let's Post Generators We Know Work To Charge

Yea, the Genmax works fine. Still big and heavy. I do have to throttle down the charge rate for whatever it can handle (Iā€™m at high altitude). Used it here or there over the last year plus and has been fine. no need for special ground plugs or anything.
  16. Introducing RMaxx Running Boards & Rock Sliders for Rivian R1T / R1S from Team 1EV

All these rock slider pictures are getting me hot and bothered for mine shipping! Any idea on when the next batch comes off the line? I've already resigned myself to not having them for my 4th of July trip that could really use rock sliders.
  17. Confirmed: Newer production R1 only have a single 12v battery, but...

To tap off a subsection of the HV battery means you want the BMS on to balance the main pack, and at that point youā€™re taking all the phantom drain anyways, so no real reason to do it.
  18. Confirmed: Newer production R1 only have a single 12v battery, but...

This is pretty interesting to me. Seems like they sized two batteries to handle the spike / load, and then realized that that becomes problematic and they could get by with the capacitor, which is a great solution, honestly. The intriguing part for me is that the capacitor is the same size /...
  19. Introducing RMaxx Running Boards & Rock Sliders for Rivian R1T / R1S from Team 1EV

Order #2149 that was placed for the sliders checking in here. Super excited to see these soon. Product realization is hard and sucks. I ordered in November expecting 5-6 months of time, and I apparently underestimated a bit....but here we are. If you buy something new, accessories for it...
  20. New Software Update: 2023.10.02 Just Got Pushed OTA

will install tonight. But the choppy arm fixed itself. By hitting the charge connector and breaking itself, so it doesnā€™t chop/move anymore (can still mostly open/close it manually). Service spot for Monday.
