  1. More Rivian info gleaned from NY Auto Show (pics)

Thanks for posting, lots of little tidbits I didn't realize! This eases my concerns about cleaning the gear tunnel that's sure to be packed with messy outdoor gear.
  2. Rivian Trademarks Hints New Models - Crossover & Sedan? (R1C, R1A, R2C, R2A, R2S, R2T, R2R)

Wow surprised to see R2T and R2S on there already.. could they really be in the works already? Gotta wonder how long the life cycles will be when so much $$ already poured into the first generation models.
  3. Rivian May Introduce Swappable Module System (Check Our Previews Inside)

I'd love to se this too especially after seeing the size of that aux battery option!
  4. Rivian / EV battery performance in cold weather / temperature

Luckily I won't have to deal much with extreme cold weather but Rivian has mentioned an advanced heating system for their batteries and that cold weather won't impact the range of the R1T or R1S. They've said to expect the strongest cold weather performance of any EV.
  5. Rivian "Lunar Rock" Launch Edition - Any info?

The obvious question here is what other special launch edition bits did this R1S have on display? Are those two pics the interior door panel and the trunk? It makes me wonder if the standard non-launch edition R1S would come with different interior materials or colors.
  6. One-Pedal Driving in Rivians???

Interesting... so the Rivian vehicles will be able to come to a complete stop in non-emergency situations without ever putting your foot on the brake pedal? So it's like driving an insanely fast golf cart!
  7. Rivian Pricing Targets Loaded F-150, Denali, Suburban, Land Rover Discovery

Yea but think of how many more units those brands would sell if they were actually reliable!
  8. Rivian stores, showroom and direct sales?

Tesla had to close all its retail stores to cut enough costs to deliver a $35k Model 3. And thousands of retail employees will lose their jobs now. Thatā€™s poor planning and overpromising but Musk had no choice but fulfill this promise by such drastic moves. Cautionary tale for Rivian and...
  9. Cool Rivian facts & history

So he's only 36 but has a PhD from MIT, three kids, and founded a car company. Ok I feel like an underachiever now lol. :computerrage:
  10. Rivian reiterates longest range model will go over 400 miles on single charge

So we know the most expensive long range model will go over 400 miles, but what about the least expensive model?
  11. Video Preview of Rivian's Infotainment / Digital Dash Technology

LOL that's child's play compared to the Kia EV concept that was just revealed today. :giggle: 21 screens baby. How's that for distracting!
  12. Why such a "Simple Stick Man" front-end appearance?

The designs we're seeing are still concept form though and front bumpers are usually the most likely part of concept vehicles to change for production - due to crash and pedestrian safety standards. So the front R1T and R1S front fascia may change yet...
  13. Lengthy Q&A With RJ Scaringe by Greentechmedia

So could a sports car be in the works at some point?? They are equally gas guzzling and the performance benefits of an EV make it a win win.
  14. Rivian Pricing Targets Loaded F-150, Denali, Suburban, Land Rover Discovery

Yea but keep in mind that a heavily optioned / long range Model X runs $130-140k! Also, the federal tax credit for Teslas have already been cut in half (to $3,750) for the first six months of 2019, and will be halved again to $1,875 for the second half of 2019. Meanwhile Rivian will enjoy the...
  15. Introductions! Drop in and say hello new and old members...

Hey all Iā€™m Rick and itā€™s nice to join you all. Iā€™ve frequented auto forums basically my entire adult life and this is always the most exciting part of the process - on a new forum for an upcoming model where like minded members are learning/speculating/celebrating about a vehicle together and...
  16. Revealed: Rivian Patent For Auxiliary Battery Module To Achieve 400+ Miles Range

According to the patent description, this isnā€™t meant to be removed and installed often. It requires a forklift or winch+cables to install and it bolts into place. So I think this is supposed to be a semi-permanent battery module.
  17. Pics of R1T at X-Games Aspen 2018

I posted this in another thread but I've just realized the biggest reason I prefer the styling of the R1T over R1S, it's the flared rear fenders. It's really prominent in this first image and you can see how much wider it is than the R1S in the second image.
  18. R1S looking more and more like Range Rover

Nice pics. This one angle made me realize for the first time that the R1T has more of a fender flare or wider fenders than the R1S.
  19. Rivian Waiting Room: Have you pre-ordered with deposit?

Looks like most of us here are waiting for the R1T. Wonder if this will be representative of the actual sales ratio between the pickup and the SUV....
  20. Rivian Waiting Room: Have you pre-ordered with deposit?

Isn't the Tesla truck supposed to be gargantuan? Tesla's rendering shows it capable of carrying another truck in its bed. And it looks like a semi tractor to me, quite unattractive.
