  1. New proposed Federal rules on building EV charging stations (to obtain federal subsidies)

My problem with government is that corporations and lobbyists have way too much influence over policy and both sides of the aisle are guilty of this. Plus, everything is so divisive these days you can't get anything done. I guess I just complained about the government didn't I? :P
  2. New proposed Federal rules on building EV charging stations (to obtain federal subsidies)

Well, it makes no sense to have a network of charging stations for each type of EV. Just a massive waste of resources. Go with one standard connector and charging station so everyone can use them all makes the most sense. It's not like they won't make money on the fees.
  3. Will Rivian meet R1S promised delivery dates?

    More bad news... https://www.autoblog.com/2022/05/23/rivian-delivery-cash-problems/
  4. Will Rivian meet R1S promised delivery dates?

I've had pretty good luck with Mercedes, we have owned a few of them over the years and they are decent. You can't beat Lexus quality though and the RX seems to be generally regarded as one of the most reliable SUVs out there. I was really hesitant to buy the Range Rover Sport we own as I have...
  5. Will Rivian meet R1S promised delivery dates?

The thing that is killing me with the Mercedes is the maintenance and upkeep coupled with the horrible fuel economy. Plus, it is expensive to insure. Right now I am budgeting $2500/year in maintenance (this is for tires, brakes and routine service). And this is a car that gets about 14.5mpg...
  6. Will Rivian meet R1S promised delivery dates?

I don't really know anything about them. I'm not sure I want to take the chance. If I go with the Lexus at least I know I'm getting a quality product that is going to serve me well for as long as I need it and then when the Rivian becomes available I can try to talk my son into the RX. He...
  7. Will Rivian meet R1S promised delivery dates?

I think I'm just going to purchase the RX and then trade it in when the Rivian becomes available. That way I'm flexible when it comes to timing as I can keep the RX as long as I need to.
  8. Will Rivian meet R1S promised delivery dates?

I reserved my R1S back in October of 2021 and got the e-mail confirmation in December that I would receive my R1S in Q3 of 2023. The problem is my car costs me a small fortune to operate and I would like to make a change now because it is not a great daily driver, I almost never drive it with...
  9. Rivian Air Suspension concerns?

I just figure it is a consumable part that will wear out eventually and just know that they will need to be replaced at some point. Yeah, they're expensive but the trade off is that nice comfortable ride and good handling.
  10. Rivian Air Suspension concerns?

What Ferrari motor needs to be rebuilt every 3-5 years? An engine out service (timing belts and valve adjustment) is not the same as an engine rebuild.
  11. Rivian Air Suspension concerns?

My wife and I have a 2021 Range Rover Sport with the air suspension. I love it but I suspect our car is too new to have any issues and so far we have had none. The air suspension on one of our previous cars, a Mercedes CLS550, was fantastic. 70k miles with no problem. Car was totaled when a...
  12. SoCal Rivian Meetup - June 11th @ Griffith Park

I'd love to go but I'm not taking delivery of mine until sometime next year... if I'm lucky.
  13. R1s delivery spotted?

That is pretty much my exact configuration but with the 20" all terrain wheels/tires.
  14. Looking to buy a R1S

The R1S isn't available yet, they haven't delivered any to customers anyway. The word is that soon they will start rolling off the production line and into customer's hands but so far we haven't seen any. The only ones out there are either test mules or the two that were delivered to the top...
  15. Rivian R1T vs GMC Hummer EV Comparison Test Review by Motor Trend

Man, that's a reference I'm sure not many will get, I like it though! Then again, this is probably a mix of older crowd and younger so maybe half of us will get it. ;)
  16. R1T 20" AT Wheel Weight, Specs, Offset, Bolt Pattern, Construction

If I were a betting man, I would bet that most wheels you see on cars these days are made in China.
  17. Rivian Demo Drives being scheduled for San Diego Area

I wonder if it is because my zip code is north county San Diego, they may think I'm too far away even though I would gladly drive 30-40 minutes for an event like this. Downtown San Diego is only a 40-45 minute drive for me.
  18. Socal preorders?

North county San Diego. I have an R1S reservation.
  19. Rivian Demo Drives being scheduled for San Diego Area

Where do you see it on your home page? I just logged in to my Rivian account and don't see anything for this. I am an order holder and I live in North County San Diego.
