I still intend to use my R2 reservation. The timing will probably work out nicely. An R1T is in my future, but it would be a silly waste of money right now because it would need to replace a perfectly fine and (and payment-free) truck.

I think the new storm blue and slate interior options are terrific. What's making my head spin a bit is that Rivian is going make a $110K pickup truck. The intended use of the vehicle isn't compatible with the price tag. But the R1S in that Ascend config is going to be wildly popular. It's gorgeous.

I agree there’s no excuse. Was just interested in the situation because the person came back to vandalize the truck; it’s so weird. Wasn’t my intention to upset folks with the question, and in retrospect it was insensitive and “too soon”. I apologize for that.

While there is no excuse for his actions, you gotta wonder about the motivations. Some form of mental illness, perhaps, or are you parked in a spot reserved for disabled people without an identifying license plate or placard? Unstable people can lose it over that. Sorry this happened in any case.

If it makes anyone feel better, Tesla hasn’t completely solved this problem either. I’m in June Lake, CA in a long range AWD Model Y; zero public charging infrastructure here. Mammoth Lakes is pretty close though and those Superchargers are convenient. Anyhow, was hoping to visit Death Valley...

I own a Tesla and don't yet own a Rivian. It's clearly an apples vs. oranges vehicle comparison. Aside from both being EVs, they aren't the same. How do the companies compare? We know Tesla doesn't give a s*** about customers. Is Rivian as bad or headed in a similar direction?

I really liked that show. Couldn’t imagine riding a motorcycle that far, but what a great way to immerse yourself in all the places/cultures along the way. All the odd situations around charging created such neat, accidental encounters with the local folks.
