Release Notes for Software Update Version 2022.31.5

I used a GPS to check my speedo before, it just "felt" high to me. Compared to my GPS, it was almost 4 mph high at 70. After upgrading, it "feels" a lot better. Have not gotten the GPS back out yet, but I'll take it.

    New OTA version 2022.7.3 !

Mine was on 2022.7.0 at delivery and updated to 2022.7.3 two days later. Haven’t noticed any major changes - I think it had the same release notes as 2022.7.0 too.

Yeah, it was a tough call for me. Really like the OC and have just had way too many black interior cars.

    Trade In Process and Value?

I'm sure this will vary by state, but in Missouri, if you sell your vehicle in a private sale within 180 days before or after buying another, you can file for a refund on the sales tax. In other words, the same as trading it. No idea how efficient the process is or how long it takes to get...

    Real Rivian Photos & Videos

Bright sunny day, large area of light colored foreground, camera stops down and darks will look darker in comparison. Probably also exacerbated by the computer (i.e., smartphone) trying to make the photo look more “contrasty” because people like that look - more “punch”. See how dark the shadows...

? Official EPA Range and MPGe Numbers for R1T & R1S

Only a 30-47 mile hit for 20 ATs? I was afraid it would be worse. I’ll take it. 95+% of my driving will be <100mi/day, so no worries. Besides, most of my efficiency will be out the window hammering 3.5 sec 0-60s for the first few months I own it anyway…

What We Know - Collecting Information Directly From Rivian

Yup. They want you to interact with their products the way they think you should (CarPlay) and for their platform to be a standard (competing apps). If you recall though, it was a while before they started allowing any other apps on the original iPhone, and they still keep tight control over the...

What We Know - Collecting Information Directly From Rivian

I interpret the quote to mean that they use destination information to adjust the battery management system’s behavior based on where you are going and what you plan to do when you get there (e.g., DCFC). Presumably this would impact range, but may be more impactful for things like charging...

What We Know - Collecting Information Directly From Rivian

Ah yes, I agree with the sentiment. But remember, Rivian seems to be taking an Apple-style approach to product development. It’s less about what is technically possible for the user to do and more about what they want the user to do.

What We Know - Collecting Information Directly From Rivian

That article tells me exactly why they are not doing CarPlay as well: There is also an intelligent controls element in the thermal system. We can intelligently – through our connected car controls – think about where the vehicle is heading. If you’re on the way to a DC fast charge, for example...

Rivian RT1 / R1S will be delivered with 80-90% charge

I didn’t want CarPlay in my 2019 Jeep because I liked CarPlay’s interface - in fact I hadn’t really seen or used it much. I wanted CarPlay in my 2019 Jeep because the UI in my 2012 Jeep was awful and I didn’t trust FCA to do better. I have more confidence in Rivian, but still like the idea of...

It may be an optical illusion or distortion in this shot - the same wrap appears at about 3:06 and it looks normal length there.

R1T climbing steep grade - video posted by RJ

I drive on “unimproved“ river gravel and limestone chat roads a lot. Not quite as intense as this, but can be a challenge between loose rocks and washed out holes. I find these two videos quite reassuring for my most likely off road usage. I’ll be able to get myself stuck in all new and...

Kinda like this maybe? The four of them do kind of look like they're on a mission. Cybertruck is trying to steal energon from PG&E - must be stopped!
