Not directly Rivian related, but thought it would be worth sharing. The podcast goes over the long history of autonomous driving and the people...
Recently came upon this fantastic article in Wired - https://www.wired.com/story/the-righteous-ev-owners-who-wont-let-their-broken-cars-die/
For those who don't have the means to read it, it goes over the birth of the Fisker Owner's Association (https://fiskeroa.com) and the concept of a...
A bit of a technical discussion behind the Rivian Autonomy Processor, pretty interesting listen if you're into the technology behind things.
A little side note, I've been noticing a lot of Rivian people that's not RJ giving out interviews lately. Wonder if this is some controlled media drip feed?
Sometimes RJ pops up in some of the most random channels. Nice of RJ to give time to even a small channel. It's a relatively short interview, with a lot of after thoughts from the hosts, mostly going over Rivian's financial strategy.
Credit goes to https://insideevs.com/reviews/786814/rivian-r2-prototype-first-drive/ and the gallery images. Hidden in the reel is a picture of the R2 silhouette against several other models.
Here are the models I could make out below. Maybe some of you with more knowledge can help identify...
More content of RJ, this time with iJustine at SXSW. A lot of the same talking points if you've watched other interviews with RJ, but still an interesting watch especially because she lets him talk. A few interesting highlights to me personally:
RJ talks autonomy, but asks if Justine has a Gen...
Just recently ordered some running boards, the EVSportline RMaxx ones. Initially I was going just going to take all the plastic panels off, but other forum members convinced me that would be easy enough to keep them on and seal them with Gorilla tape.
One of the install details that confuses me...
Seems like RJ has been on a media campaign recently. This time, its from his alma mater Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. If you've seen the other videos in the past two weeks or so, there's a lot of the same talking points about the company's founding, mission, and challenges. So, I will just...
Saw this video podcast interviewing former Rivian Executive Creative Director Larry Parker. It's quite long, so I'll have to go back with the time stamps later. Larry goes over his car enthusiasm, early days at Rivian, departing from Rivian, and some discussions about life and purpose in...
Hurricane Beryl hit the greater Houston area last Monday, and I was out of power for almost a week. Fortunately I remembered I have a huge backup battery in my garage in the form of my R1S. During that power outage, through the use of extension cables and power strips:
I kept my refrigerator...
A short Q&A with Jeff Hammoud that gives a little insight into his perspective about design. Nothing major or new, but the way he talks about the new scroll wheel makes me want it retrofitted onto my R1S!
No affiliation, I just like this channel's content and thorough reviews. To my surprise, he has a Rivian R1S now!
TL;DW (but you should watch!) - Get the Blackvue DR970X-2CH LTE if you have a need for a cloud connected dashcam and have lots of money. Alternatively use a regular dashcam with a...
I thought this was a refreshing interview, different from the typical business-centric media. Some pretty deep questions were asked, and it seemed to make RJ really dig deep. There was also some fun trivia too.
Also, Blake and Will (the two 8th graders interviewing RJ) did a fantastic job! I...
Rivian does a good job sending monthly updates and improving the vehicle, but I hope someone is looking at the website/app also. A couple things I would like to see:
Get away from SMS two factor. It's better than nothing, but I would rather have authentication apps.
Have backup codes. It's a...
Enjoying my R1S, but after some adventures its been picking up a lot of dirt and debris. I remember when picking up from the service center the Rivian employee recommended only to do hand wash and not go through an automated one. Anyone have recommendations or tips?
Saw the post asking about who makes the Rivian Adventure Network chargers, and a question about Rivian Wall chargers. To my surprise, no one has posted this information on the forum yet.
So here goes the proof from my own Rivian Wall charger, it is made by LITE-ON:
Just wanted to poke around the forum to see if anyone else had their R1S delivery or pickup rescheduled due to a back-up light issue? Sounds like there was a big batch of R1S deliveries that didn't meet Department of Transportation standards for rear back-up light brightness. Looks like Rivian...
About an 80 minute podcast with Director of Vehicle Dynamics, Max Koff.
I wish I took notes while listening, but off the top of my head here are some interesting little highlights:
Rivian could not benchmark the R1 vehicles against a single vehicle. They took the pieces from a Land Rover...
