Well, I finally have the proper socks to complete my Gear Guard Gary outfit.
But ridiculously, the Gear Shop sent them in an oversized box, wrapped in bubble wrap.
They're socks, Rivian! They don't need to be wrapped in bubble wrap! A simple padded envelope would have sufficed!
During our latest camping outing, my wife lamented that our choices when camping are either to drive the Rivian (big, inefficient-for-an-EV) or our bicycles (take effort, even the e-bikes we have are only "pedal assist" and have limited range and ability to tackle hills.)
So my wife was wanting...
Since .18 installed, the "lower mirrors in reverse" doesn't reset to normal position when shifting into drive reliably.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It seems to be falling to reset to "forward" position more often than not more recently.
And using your driver profile "restore"...
This one was supplied by Ford for my Mach-E, but is absolutely identical to the one Rivian supplied for my R1T.
Only taken out of the box when it arrived to make sure it looked good, and to slap the Ford sticker on it. I may have inserted it into the Mach-E once without any power running...
Just did my first "more than just to the store" drive on 2025.10 - a 3 hour drive one way yesterday morning, then a 3 hour drive home in the afternoon.
On the way up, I had two instances of both the infotainment and instrument clusters freezing, audio source stuttering, then suddenly both...
It’s rare that I ever run in to a person ICEing a charger while they’re at their vehicle.
The few times I have, I’ve very politely mentioned that these are for electric vehicles to charge, don’t demand they move (and only even ask if all other stalls are full.)
Today at a RAN, a Sprinter...
I've tried resetting the vehicle, I've tried disabling location-based, letting the vehicle sleep, turning location-based back on. No go. I can still tap the icon on the center screen and open/close normally, but the auto-prompt that let me press the steering wheel button to do it is gone.
Also...
I'll be road tripping through the area this weekend, and would love to stop and take a look at the R2/R3, but with the Rivian Seattle Space being in the University District, I can't imagine parking is abundant. Anyone local know if there's *anywhere* to park an R1T towing a small teardrop in the...
Had the dreaded early 12V failure on my R1T. It was drivable, but it did warn to plug it in at every opportunity until getting the 12V replaced (which I did.)
That has me wondering though. I have a big old lead-acid jump box + air compressor I've had since my old diesel pickup. It's in the...
(R-3X, the driver of the "ship" you were in on the Star Tours motion-control ride as Disney. Now the DJ in the cantina at Galaxy's Edge; voiced by the late-great Paul Reubens.)
Summary: The new and improved Tow Mode was applied in the middle of my trip. It was useful in some ways, needs serious improvement in others. No "left me stranded" charging problems, but EA did have one *MAJOR* foul-up that wasted half a day. The West Coast is pretty great for charging...
On Thursday, I started the “Northward” return trip home with my trailer. First stop, the EA at the Tucson (AZ) Outlet Mall. Charged there successfully on the Southbound portion of the trip, albeit at degraded charging speeds.
Plugged in, swiped in the app to start the charge, immediately got...
Planning a trip to The Dalles this last weekend, I noticed a new RAN located there! Yay! I'd be towing my trailer, so I'd be low on charge, and wanted extra charge to run the trailer over the weekend. Showed up, and the trailer spot is a back-in. Not only is it a back-in, it's one with a barrier...
Pretty slick place. They have a fun augmented reality way to see an R1T up close - and it is amazingly high detail. I put my face RIGHT up to the steering wheel, and I could have sworn I was looking at a real Rivian steering wheel.
And I don't know if the AR vehicle's navigation system takes...
Okay, the trailer is going to the campground about 100km East of Vancouver, where I'll be staying for four days. But it'll be the first "more than 70% used" tow with it.
It's a 2018 NĂĽCamp T@B 400. Bought it last week, drove 150 miles home with it, using only about 70% to get it home. It...
