No software update for me. I'm assuming the update they're talking about with a rough engagement is with regard to the clutch disconnect. Esentially they are turning what we call all purpose mode into conserve, and then we will get a new all purpose mode like what tri and quad has where it's AWD...
@krb1183 honestly I didn't REALLY have an issue until I romped on it too many times with bad tires. The other stuff was so subtle I didn't realize it was actually an issue
I've had my handles replaced as well.. but they started squeaking again a week later :headbang: - fortunately it's not AS...
its a conundrum, that's for sure. The nice thing is it's not really a safety issue (aside from the wheel speed sensor potentially?) More of just an NVH comfort thing, I've learned. Hopefully the fixes stick, though. Definitely some hard engineering work from the folks at Rivian to get something...
The program in Utah is ending Sep 30th as well :(
NGL - the Utah program is REALLY, REALLY good, but agruable unfair to new EV drivers. It was just a $10 one time fee to register for life (as long as you own the vehicle) for unlimited HOV access. You got an electronic tag for your windshield...
I recently got my Gen 2 R1S back from service for this issue - and honestly, it has me questioning what I thought I knew about Rivian drive train feel. After getting the fix, it feels smoother than it did on delivery day, fresh from the factory. Like it was never right to begin with. So I did a...
Unfortunately the notes just say "diagnostic" on it. Nothing specific. They just told me about the firmware mismatch when I picked it up and was chatting with the tech
For me the cause was a firmware mismatch, and unfortunately OTA software updates didn't fix it. It had to be fixed by a tech, doing a manual firmware install from the Rivian service software
There’s been a lot of chatter (and conflicting information) about the Rivian–Volkswagen joint venture. What exactly is VW buying, and what aren’t they getting? Let’s break it down.
I go into more detail on the video - so if you'd like to watch that instead:
First - A Bit of Background
The...
For tri motor it should stay in all purpose or conserve. Any others it will reset back to all purpose after 4 hours of being parked due to EPA rules
Yes! There's nothing special you have to do here. Whatever you change within a drive mode, it'll remember the next time you use that drive mode...
This is true - but from (bad) personal experience I know most people on the internet don't read into things that way. Most people will take away "comma is the problem". I'm sure comma.ai will survive, I just feel bad for all of the negative PR that this inconclusive result is causing
I do see your point but sadly I feel the reality is that most people on the internet don't dig to any amount. The vast majority of people (as much as they argue the contrary) just read the headline and move on.
Words like "appears" and "allegedly" are far too often used in headlines as...
I feel that Kyle's video did comma.ai a huge disservice here. The video title "It Appears Comma AI Is The Cause Of My Rivian Motor Faults" implies a conclusive result that comma is causing problems. However the reality is that it's all just speculation at this point. They don't REALLY know if...
I'm afraid Kyle's video did comma.ai a disservice here. The video title misrepresents his findings. They THINK it MAY have something to do with it, it's inconclusive, and requires further testing. Maybe comma, maybe the harness, who knows. Further testing on his part is for sure required before...
Ha ha yeah the new software is definitely a lot more... Wandry/drunky for lane centering than before. But the team is well aware and I'm shut we'll see improvements on that front in the next update or two
This stuff is a lot easier to show in a video, and it shows much more detail throughout the process. If you want to check that out, I uploaded under Thunder Volt on Youtube:
Otherwise, if you'd rather read about it, you can stick with the written version :)
A couple of weeks ago I posted...
I'm hoping so as well. When they initially announced Gen 2 they said specifically iPhone and Pixels.
(unfortunately Samsung has blocked car keys from working on Google wallet on their devices. You HAVE to use Samsung wallet for car keys. But Rivian hasn't mentioned support for that)
Haha thanks, Mike! (Great name, btw 😉) Glad I'm not the only one who loves digging into this stuff. Love sharing it with the community
I agree! That would be so nice to at least expand the mapped roads.
That said - you should look into comma.ai It's REALLY good. My buddy has it on his gen1
