R1S VINs are separate from R1T VINs. The latest VIN I've heard for R1S is mid-2000s.

Easy answer: The R1S prototype was revealed in November 2018, while the Grand Wagoneer was not unveiled until September 2020. Jeep was faster to get to production, but Rivian had the design first.

I'm curious why you list Portrait center display as a negative. I've found Rivian's landscape center display to be a huge step back from my former Model X's portrait display. The portrait display lends itself much better to multitasking, as you can essentially stack two or three landscape apps...

Changing to a R1S won't put you at the back of the line, but you should expect to be slotted in approximately where an original R1S reservation from September 2021 would be. That would likely mean the second half of 2023.

I didn't pay much attention to the hood while driving, but my friend pointed out the flutter to me from the passenger seat. It sounds like it's a common condition of all Rivians to date. I'm not sure a service request would be of much use.

I've reserved one just in case anything goes wrong with my R1S ownership experience. The R1S hasn't been love at first sight but it is growing on me. The ride quality still is a bit rougher than I'd like, especially on the freeway.

While it's a safe bet the ambient lights are RGB, I'm guessing the colors lack independent intensity controls which is why Halloween Mode uses red instead of orange. At equal intensities, the only available colors are red, green, blue, magenta, yellow, cyan, and white.

One of the biggest things I miss from Tesla is the giant HEPA filter. You could never smell anything from outside in the cabin. Rivian's tiny filter is disappointing.

Kneel mode seems to work well. It is far more comfortable getting in or out, and no longer makes me think there should be running boards.

You got a $0 glass deductible from Rivian Insurance? When I called for a quote they indicated $100 was the lowest deductible they offered.

I doubt we'll see a R1S shop until next year. The R1T shop didn't open up until VINs were around 8000, while R1S VINs are still in the 1000s. At this point they are still building R1S slowly enough to pre-match each one with an existing order, and they haven't run into production mix limits.
