  1. Ford Ditches Electric SUV: Is it Time to Address the Elephant in the Room?

As far as Hyundai goes, their EV’s total about 7% of their sales. It’s a pretty long off-ramp for Ford to get profitable on their EV products. They could have improved the Escape PHEV to compete with the RAV4 Prime, but didn’t. Rivian needs to hold on until the R2 and R3 are on line. It...
  2. R2 Charge Port Location is Moving to Driver's Side Rear (on Production Model)! - Confirms Rivian VP

That Green R3 there was really cool. Maybe too small, but IMHO their best looking vehicle.
  3. R3 / R3X Dimensions: ~161.4 in length / ~59.5 in height ?

I saw this exact one at the Rivian Space today in Pasadena. I drove up to look at a R2, which also was there. It’s small, exceptionally handsome.
  4. R2 Charge Port Location is Moving to Driver's Side Rear (on Production Model)! - Confirms Rivian VP

I have an R2 order and live in SoCal. Is it worth the 60 mile drive to Pasadena to see the R2?
  5. Total piece of JUNK. Leased exactly one month ago. Within a day started AC that will not work. Towed and took 1 week to repair.

I have a Tesla M3 L/R 2023, had an early R1S order I canceled as we thought it was just too big for our needs after driving it. I have a deposit on an R2. The Tesla has been flawless. I had some moisture in a taillight: they came to my house in 2-3 days and fixed it under warranty. I do wonder...
  6. Good experience with America's Tire

I just bought new tires there for my Suzuki RV toad. First rate service. Plus, an order to go from the Memphis Cafe across the street.
  7. Rivian Price Prediction and Forecast Article

I’ve made small amounts selling covered calls. When the stock was $10-$14, the premiums were pretty high. I was. Ever knit for the long term. Buying at $10 and selling at $15 is better, but this was pretty profitable.
  8. Chargepoint NACS cable replacement cost

I charge my Tesla with my j1772 eve and the Tesla adaptor. Couldn’t be easier. Yes, I open the charging door with the app. I’m 77 and even I don’t fumble.
  9. NYT: Tesla chief executive’s polarizing statements have alienated some potential customers

I have a Model 3 L/R, it’s a great car. Fast, good range. I like its looks a lot. The interior is plain, I agree. To say Musk is polarizing is obviously an understatement. I’m sure my house is full of stuff from China, where there is no freedom of expression, restricted internet, etc. I...
  10. RJ interview on CNBC - May 8, 2024

I have a Tesla M3 L/R, have a R2 on order. I don’t use any of the apps, just get in the car and drive. Of course, I’m 77 and wear hearing aids. But I’m waaaay more interested in the handling and performance of the vehicle, its range and reliability than the electronic gadgets. Yes, I...
  11. My impressions from driving an R1S

Great. I’m not crazy after all (well…)
  12. My impressions from driving an R1S

Agreed. It’s the EPA number v the real world number. But if accurate, it speaks to the range of a highway trip, not mixed driving. And, while faster than the EPA tests, 75 mph on an interstate (5) with speed limits of 65 or 70 mph, a steady 75 mph range test is helpful. It tells you what...
  13. My impressions from driving an R1S

Looking, can’t find. Fairly short article, came either as an email or one of those Google stories. Will find it eventually.
  14. My impressions from driving an R1S

it was a little plain vanilla. Just didn’t click with me. My wife didn’t like it either. I loved it in the pics.
  15. My impressions from driving an R1S

It wasn’t the noise, it was the turn indicator return that bothered me. And regards Car and Driver, it wasn’t an R1T, it was a very recent comparison between the R1S and the BMW iX M60.
  16. My impressions from driving an R1S

I was able to drive an R1S. My impression was it’s roomy, handles OK (for 7k pounds) and good looking in the flesh. My complaints would be more minor, the turn indicator drove me crazy, the glass roof has the potential to really heat up the inside and needs a sliding cover, like my old...
  17. Federal tax credit

Also, Rivian currently sources their batteries from Samsung. Samsung has a US assembly plant (operating @ 100% capacity) and sources its materials from Hungary. I don’t know if any Rivian batteries come from this plant. The US does not have a free trade agreement with Hungary.
  18. Federal tax credit

Too bad I wasn’t on the forum back then! We’ll see how it pans out. Lots of moving parts.
  19. Federal tax credit

I signed up before the price increase, didn't have many options (Paint, roof rails, spare tire.Rivian honors the original price. I didn't do the binding purchase agreement as my price was below $80k, but then the battery sourcing info came out. Probably should have. I haven't gotten a delivery...
