Agreed about LIDAR and self driving, not important to me at all. Price, design, driving dynamics, interior ergonomics, durability and a nice sound system are my priorities. Your wife should look into the new Range Rover EV coming up...if they can recover from that huge cyber attack!
I feel there is just too much speculation yet around these details, I'm waiting for the official press day they have for R2 coming early next year. Rivian will officially announce all these details then.
FWIW....There's been complaints all over here about the Premium Audio ever since Rivian dropped Meridian as a partner. Too bad, I sure hope they offer a decent system in the R2 and get it right!
Honestly, seems like a good move for the demographic that buys traditional F150 trucks. This will drive like an EV and get them used to that, but keep the owners happy with the ability to stop at gas stations 🤣. Hopefully Ford can make money on them.
Buying a piece of technology today, one has to assume it's outdated very shortly down the road. Still very usable, mind you...but all technology gets replaced with the latest and greatest within a few years time. I feel many don't have this mindset when buying and get frustrated when the next...
If anyone is buying a piece of technology today, it's a given it's out dated in a few years time. Still very usable mind you, but it will be older tech in no time. I think many do not have that mindset and get frustrated when the latest greatest comes out.
I get it, every automaker needs to have at least one foot into the self driving and AI hype right now. But I would also love to see this company have world class charging speeds and efficiency with their next product, I sure hope they're dedicating R&D into this too.
We don't even know if the lidar is going to be standard, it could very well be optional. There are many details yet that still need to be released which it sounds like they will have a special event early next year all about R2.
Yes, it's looking to be long term sustainable growth...not the unhealthy exponential growth expected from Wall Street and those only looking at the next quarter.
I think Rivian will get there sooner than you think, we'll see soon what the charging curve is for the R2...I'm confident it will be better than R1. But eventually, the industry is heading towards 800v and DCFC will be upgraded to accommodate.
