I really hope you’re able to still get a launch edition with a day two reservation. Mine is also from the 8th.
Might want to update your sig in light of this new confession! :CWL:
Many of the things that stand out about EV vs. ICE behavior can be explained by the huge gulf in efficiency between the two.
An EV powertrain is something like 80-90% efficient, whereas as an ICE powertrain is more like 20-30% efficient.
When 80% of the fuel you burn in an ICE just goes to...
What you wrote is true of ICE vehicles, but EVs do not behave the same way. While it may take more power to accelerate, EVs are able to recapture much of that when decelerating. It's the steady state power needed to overcome air resistance that is unrecoverable, and hence the main driver of EV...
That was my question reading this as well. A particularly laughable conclusion in light of the other big thread here about the lawsuits against Tesla for under-delivering on their "self driving" claims.
The major difference in the R1 is that the 20" wheels are forged, while all other wheels are cast. That difference alone is probably more of a cost differentiator than anything else that's bundled with it.
I have not heard anything to say that the 20" wheels on the R2 are a different...
I get that the carscoops source is maybe not that reputable, but it's clear many here did not read the article or other posts in this thread.
The point is that the labor is NOT the same, because the damaged part is so much larger and connects to so many more points of the body than would be...
Not sure how you come to the conclusion that it's click bait? The OP's article details a repair that was LESS expensive and involved than the one you posted. It was also clear that it could NOT be repaired via PDR, since they popped it out and there were still many creases visible.
This is a known issue with the R1T. If you look at one from the side, you can see that it is built with one continuous piece of sheetmetal from the windshield all the way to the rear corner. Any time that piece is damaged as in that article, the whole piece needs to be replaced, which is a...
I've really liked the RIV-specific Goodyear Territory A/T. It meets most of your criteria, being a road-focused A/T tire that looks decent but is vastly quieter and more civilized on road than the OE Pirellis, and I like that it's now an OEM tire.
The big caveat is that it's a 275/60 as...
That article is pure clickbait slop. The author did no original research or have any first hand experience and instead bases his entire premise on a single line from a Car and Driver review. He then makes ludicrous statements implying that the R2 will compete with the F150 lightning.
I do not...
1. Notifications that do not require picking up your phone
2. Ability to triage messages and choose to ignore some based on message preview without having to take any action.
3. Having to have "Hey Siri" enabled all the time
4. Having to have your phone in a location where its native mic can...
They are not the same tire size or wheel width. The R2 tires have a different series and section width than R1. You cannot make assumptions about tire availability based on just the fact that they are both 21" wheels.
I asked my dog but she just stared at me blankly. At least she didn't eat 45 lbs of food and take a crap in my kitchen while coming up with an answer, so I feel I came out ahead vs. Grok.
My guess is that they tested the 20" configuration with the pseudo A/T tires from the performance/launch edition vs. the A/S tires mounted to the 21" wheels at launch.
