Nobody knows. You could argue both ways. We don't even know how many launch editions they are making or exactly when the run of launch editions end. Just have to wait till Rivian says something.
In 2 to 3 years, R2 will probably get updated for faster charging and bigger battery. I think it just came down to priority for Rivian where Autonomy was higher on the list than 800v. Of course if companies like Tesla don't update anytime soon, then there isn't even any competitive pressure...
Ionna is expanding crazy fast as just one example. Here's a recent example of them taking over Circle K locations: https://www.ionna.com/news/ionna-and-circle-k-enter-partnership-to-expand-access-to-ev-charging-in-the-u-s-at-ionna-rechargeries-circle-k/
There are already Chinese companies that can match Tesla with FSD. And we're saying Rivian can't compete when Chinese companies can?
The US is a protected market now where we don't always get the best things anymore.
They might need to offer 21" for the rubber band look for most buyers of the performance. What we want may not represent the average buyer.
I hope enough buyers keep pestering Rivian to offer All Seasons on the 20" Black sand wheels and maybe Rivian allows that. Although the pressure to do...
I'm just saying a year is a long time and RJ is already talking about supply chain issues now with things like memory pricing. I'll leave open the possibility for things out of their control bumping up the price a little.
I don't think there's going to be a big market for regular consumers to pay premiums especially without Point to Point even released yet. Maybe some teardown firms and OEMs will buy some to understand the cost optimizations. Plus, to benchmark against their upcoming vehicles. That's still...
No consensus on a possible price increase. Have to wait till they say. You could argue it both ways. In-house chip saves them money per car where they don't have to pay nvidia tax. And they've said Lidar is only a few hundred dollars.
Rivian is launching R2 with Dual Mode radar and new updated cameras. It's too hard to compare Tesla and Rivian directly as they are in much different time periods in development. We might only be able to start comparing the two at the end of the year when Rivian's Point to Point comes out...
It says in his account that "You will be invited to order in December to February" so he would get an invite email anywhere in that 3 month period when Rivian has an open production slot. I'm only talking about the start of the invitation. Not a timeframe to order after that.
Only big advantage for the whole reservation system seems to be reserving the second you can when R3 reservations start to get a 3 to 6 month benefit. Whatever year that happens. They don't use reservations to negatively profile you to block purchases as it's just an order que to gauge...
RJ thinks that autonomy is going to move faster than people think over the next few years. Nobody is going to argue with your cautious viewpoint though. It's a valid take to be skeptical and cautious with autonomy. No right or wrong here as we just have to see how this plays out.
I think...
Thanksgiving is in November. If you're invited to start ordering in December, then click order. You still have a 4+ week wait after that. So you wouldn't see your car till earliest January 2027. Of course your invite window runs till February so you may not see your car till March 2027. This...
It drives a little more like a truck in terms of seating position, but ride was smooth and enjoyable. It won't be as sporty as many of the crossovers that are built off sedan platforms that sit physically lower. Demo drives are limited in time though so that's only my first impression.
R2 is not readily available. Rivian is in the very early part of the production ramp up. They build up their production rate over the course of this year. Largest portion of 2026 R2 deliveries will be in Q4 of this year.
