No announcement, just a fluff piece. I think RJ did this because of the stock reaction after Q4 deliveries. At least he got to explain the Amazon situation.
Because they had to beg Bosch for supply during the pandemic, so they could begin production, and had to agree to purchasing X number of units from them. The penalty for not purchasing the units is worse than the additional margin they make on the Enduro units. Once the contract with Bosch is...
If you are ultimately purchasing the vehicle, why does the lease payment matter at all?
Your monthly payments will be higher which will be equally offset by the lower residual payment at the end.
They may have enough reservations for what they plan to produce this year, but if those people are sitting on shop access and not completing the purchase then it doesn't help much.
They definitely still have a decent backlog of Pre March 2022 (lower price) reservation but they are purposefully...
Vast majority available are quad motor.. I would not be surprised if they are pulling this lever to clear out all of that inventory before announcing the upcoming changes.
My experience with the (R1T) shop is that for a handful of weeks before the end of the quarter, they opened up all of the inventory to everybody. I was seeing hundreds of R1T in the shop and there was a video posted a couple weeks ago of a parking lot in Illinois with a corresponding number of...
Amazing to watch the market make people panic and sell their shares because nobody listens to earnings calls or other presentations from the company. They'll be piling back in at higher prices soon enough.
I believe the story was that they were working on figuring out how to stop it from doing wheelies, not that they were scrapping the ultra high performance trim.
Why didn't they make the max pack 800v? I'm not the super expert but it seems like it would cause problems to have 400v and 800v batteries on the same line - might as well wait. Hey, maybe we can get extra speculative and talk about whether they're also going to 48v to accompany this ECU and...
Ok, you made the assumption that "it is just a part refresh" and the assumption that the hypothetical parts being added to the line would be "more expensive". Yes I listen to the earnings calls, analyst calls, and other interviews.
I think many of the assumptions you are making here are incorrect. Every data point we have aligns with a switch to 800v coming in April, along with the introduction of the in-house quad motor system designed on that architecture, and of course the completely re-designed ECU and wiring system...
One benefit to the paying customer is that with a 30%+ reduction in material costs overall, Rivian will actually start making some money on these vehicles and won't go out of business, which would leave you with no support and a worthless vehicle!
I have listened to that interview several times to try to parse whether or not she's referring to the new standard LFP pack, and i agree she's not. What confirmed that for me is actually the next question - where she talks about the cadence of next year, she says that coming out of the shutdown...
