Thanks, that’s a good find. Let us know how it works out! I saw some folks using it on Starlink forums, but no one on a Rivian roof. Seems promising.
Thanks, yes, that's what I've been doing and it works pretty well. But it's all manual based on my own calculations / observation. I don't see a way to pull in live data for that, at least not automatically.
Thanks, yes, I have used that feature, manually at least. It seems to pull in the...
Now that ABRP supports Rivian live data (easily), has anyone tried it while towing? Will ABRP know that you are towing? There doesn't seem to be a way to tell ABRP that you are towing, nor does there seem to be a separate reference consumption per trailer, like on the built-in nav. Does...
Hagerstown has no pull-through and you'll probably have to drop the trailer unless it's really quiet when you show up. I was there towing in June mid-day and the lot was very crowded with lots of traffic behind the RAN spots. Had to unhitch.
Also stopped at Christiana, which also has no...
Turns out @Riviot and @Hillbilly had the right solution here. After being a squeaky wheel I got a loaner R1 just before my vacation, and we had a great time. Though it was a nail biter as to whether I’d get one.
I talked to my local Herc Rentals, and they’re not set up well for personal...
Haha, seems conceivable, but I’m not sure police radar detectors scan those whole bands—they’re pretty wide. And Starlink probably uses spread spectrum, so it may be too weak on any given frequency to register. But maybe…
My understanding is that Starlink operates in Ku and Ka bands, which are sometimes called "Radar-Frequency Bands." See https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/1160089 and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radio_spectrum#IEEE_radar_bands. Maybe "microwave" would be a better description? Obviously...
Has anyone tried using Starlink through the roof glass? It sounds like Starlink uses radar frequencies that will pass through glass, unless the glass has metallic coatings or layers. Anyone have experience with this?
Thanks all for the good advice here.
For others' benefit, I also saw that Herc Rentals will rent half ton trucks that you can tow with, and some locations might let you tow with smaller trucks like the Colorado / Canyon / Ranger size. That's nicer than Enterprise Truck Rental, which makes...
I've always thought about it in terms of iPhone batteries to keep it in perspective. According to macworld.com, the biggest iPhone battery so far was the 15 Pro Max at just over 17 Wh...
Haha. Yes, that would be really excellent. Though I've heard they don't let you tow with loaners. At least I am lucky it didn't happen during my trip, like this. Still a bummer to have it out of commission during its first time to shine.
Thanks. Definitely a big relief to have Trenton somewhat functional!
I thought about don't-ask-don't-tell towing, but you never know what you're going to get at regular Enterprise. Hitch receiver? Trailer wiring? Brake controller? Trailer is 5k GVWR, so not crazy big, but many 3-row SUVs...
Thanks. Yes, they do seem to allow personal rentals (it's an option when booking). The rates are listed online and are not too crazy, but obviously higher than renting a "standard" car from regular Enterprise...
My phone and fob will wake up my 2024 R1S even with prox completely off. I'm on 2024.11.02, and do not have the car connected to WiFi. For example, I look at the app, it shows sleeping. Then walk near the car, I see the brake lights flash. Look at app again, and it says All Systems Go. I'm...
Does anyone have any experience or advice on getting a tow vehicle while your Rivian is in for warranty service?
After about 2000 miles of wonderful enjoyment of our new 2024 R1S (quad/large/21) (end of Q1 lease deals!), I got "Motor fault"; "All-wheel drive permanently engaged"; and turtle...
I had the same issue with my 2024 R1S on software 2024.11.02 since the first time I set up Drive Cam a couple weeks ago. Drive Cam manual events would record, but the "DriveStream" folder was always empty--no continuous recordings. I'm using a 1TB Samsung T7 SSD.
Infotainment reset didn't...
I think they're the exact same numbers for the exact same vehicle--I think OP here got these figures from that same Reddit post. And the Reddit poster said that Rivian told him a lower money factor than what you're calculating. I'm not suggesting your calculation is wrong, just trying to...
How did you calculate the interest rate? These lease numbers seem to come from a Reddit post where the OP reported a money factor of 0.00274. That would be a 6.58% rate as I understand it.
I have also noticed this pattern in the US. Also, the shop is mostly max packs. Seems they're trying to move higher-priced units, perhaps to prop up average prices and gross margins
As long as demand is absorbing factory capacity, why would they push lower-margin units? As demand levels off...
