Service centers are backed up enough with many waiting months for an appointment. I really doubt they'd make things worse by allowing retrofits. They want to sell new vehicles, not give owners a reason to keep their old model even longer.

I was expecting them to reduce the number of paint/interior combinations to simplify manufacturing like Tesla does, but this would greatly increase that number with potentially 7 interiors and 2 added paint colors.

To be fair, the Tesla implementation of NACS is great. There's no guarantee it will be great for other charging networks. It's still using CCS as the protocol and could have the same reliability issues as their CCS connector chargers.

Exactly. At any moment he could turn off SC access to non-Tesla vehicles, especially as chargers get more crowded due to him pausing new locations. I look st SC access as a nice perk for non-Teslas but one that could go away at any time so it can't be an essential part of anyone's long term...

Retooling may be done but there's probably another month of training before they start ramping up production again. Vehicles made during training will likely be demos or sold to employees (doubt you'd want one of the first batch...). I wouldn't expect any news from Rivian directly anytime soon...

Tesla pretty much had to offer that upgrade to older vehicles because they were promised to have hardware capable of FSD (insert joke here). It was a one-time upgrade to HW3 to avoid legal action. There is not an upgrade path from HW3 to HW4 and likely won't be again for any future version...

Just got 3 years of SXM (vehicle and app) for $99 (around $120 after fees/taxes). There are always deals, you just have to chat with customer service (usually 2 or 3 tries) to get them.

No chance they have 5+ months worth of vehicles sitting somewhere. I think there is zero chance they will block voucher holders from ordering vehicles manufactured after the shutdown in May. They just don't want to say that because they want to get rid of as many pre-refresh vehicles as possible...

Is this the less expensive pre-cut panels where they don't remove the badges and just leave a non-matte "box" around the letters, etc?

I can't see them having anywhere near enough inventory vehicles produced prior to this week to last through the end of September. I'd be shocked if whatever vehicles they start producing in May aren't available to those with vouchers.

Also it says they won't be "fulfilling" custom configurations. So they could theoretically open up the configurator again before summer, but they wouldn't fulfill those orders until summer.

Depends what zip code you are using. I still see R1S in the shop but I'm only a few hours from Normal.

I doubt they'll have enough inventory of pre-refresh vehicles to fulfill all those preorders for the next 6 months considering the shutdown is supposedly happening in just a few weeks. That isn't much time to stockpile old vehicles and the Shop doesn't have much available currently, especially...
